		<description>An arterial blood gas shows the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide
in your blood as well as the pH (acid/alkaline)of the blood. It is an
indication of how efficiently your respiratory system is working. The
blood is drawn from an artery rather than a vein.
I honestly don't understand why they do the ABG test for preop. Do
you have some respiratory problems? I used to draw these in my former
life as a respiratory therapist.
