had surgery on Tuesday Dec 4th. and came down with pnuemonia the
following sundya. Have been on antibiotics and pain meds. Now I
know Right after surgery you aren’t into eating. But i was doing
great with liquids til this kicked in and now everything tastes like
soap or makes me sick to my stomach. I am afraid of getting if I am
not already dehydrated. If any of you have had this problem how did
you do and what did you do to keep on track with your surgery? I
think if I have to spend another day sick I am going to just crawl
out of my skin.

    Channa,
I’m Estela from Texas. I developed pneumonia at 7 wks post op. I’ve
always been a very healthy woman, in spite of my weight and co-
morbids, so this took me by surprise. Not sure if it was the lack of
breathing exercises (I didn’t know and wasn’t told I should be doing
the little machine at least 4X daily, I only did it in the hospital
for 2 days). Anyway, that really knocked me out. Doc wanted to put
me in the hospital but I chose to stay home (at my parents), go in
daily for a shot and follow a rigorous (sp?) 4X daily breathing
    treatments with the nebulizer.
I recovered ok, but you’re so newly post-op. Please take care of
    yourself.
