Carbs vs. No Carbs

Hello all,
I wanted to thank everyone for responding to my question carbs vs. no carbs
and fast or slow weight loss. Someone asked me to share what I’d discovered
so here goes:
What I found out is we’re all different and what works for one may not work
for another. Nothing profound…nothing new. Some responded that they
didn’t have carbs for at least 8 months out and their weight loss had been
great. Other’s said they eat carbs but try to eat protein first. Some even
still partake in McDonald’s chicken nuggets and fries. And everyone’s losing.
I was complaining that I was losing slowly and maybe it’s because I eat too
many carbs. But a few of you pointed out that I’ve already lost 60% of my
excess weight in 5 months. And that’s where we should be measuring
ourselves. Not actual weight lost but percentage of excess weight lost.
Someone who doesn’t have as much to lose seems like their losing more slowly
but the fact is, percentage wise, they’re probably losing about the same.

A while back I went to obesityhelp.com and printed out a graph with my
starting weight and the percentage amount (90%) I wanted to lose and it
graphed an average weight loss for me by month for 14 months. It said I
should be at target weight in 14 months. I chart my weight loss on my
anniversary each month and so far I’ve lost 3-5 lbs more than what the chart
says I should each month. I can’t compare myself to anything else but
“average” so this works for me. It also allows me to set mini-monthly goals.
I think what this boils down to is:
1. When have we ever lost this much weight before;
2. If we’re doing all we can to succeed, quit complaining…the weight loss
will come;
3. If we’re not doing all we can to succeed, then change what we’re doing.
I’ll probably continue to eat carbs…with the bulk of my meal protein. And
continue to drink my fluids. And eventually I will start exercising.
That’s about it. Again, nothing particularly new but I appreciate everyone
for responding to my unscientific survey.
