Regarding yesterday
First of all I want to say thank you to all that called. There was a
multitude of calls — so many that the senator’s office changed to voice
mail at noon. That would have been great. I say would have been because
apparently quite a few of the calls consisted of people swearing and cursing
and some threatened the senator. Ummmm.. folks.. I am not trying to chastise
you — I can understand why tempers are running high and emotion is deep.
But there is an old saying that “you catch more flies with honey than
vinegar.” Yesterday apparently a lot of vinegar was served. Please don’t do
that. I spoke to a few people today after someone informed me of the
situation. I call it a situation because searing and cursing can ruin our
chances. As can threatening a state senator. Yes i called him “the damn
committee chair” and I admitted that today in my phone calls. The upshoot is
I heard today that there will be hearings scheduled. And we will be moving
forward. However, they have some other hearings to get through first. Anyway
I just wanted to let you guys know. Again I am not trying to chastise anyone
but I got calls and emails about the situation from people in the loop with
the senators. That is not good. Please if you call, treat people with
respect. They will listen if you give them a chance. Yesterday from the
sheer volume of calls they could have done nothing more than take names and
numbers. That is all I ask. But there will be a hearing.
