New to the group, wanted to introduce myself

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

Hello to all, My name is Kerry and I am hoping to have WLS. I am 28 years old
and weigh 250 lbs. I have 3 children and have been married 8 years to my
wonderful husband.
I am hoping to have the Roux en Y procedure done at Images in Lubbock Texas. The
dr. there, I believe is Dr. David Hall. I was hoping you all could give me some
feed back on him. I checked him out on obesityhelp.com and everyone had nothing
but good things to say about him. I haven’t met him yet, so if anyone has
anything to say about him or Images, I sure would love to hear from ya!
I am in the process of getting approval from my physician and insurance company,
it is excruciating to wait and wait!! I have no patience when it comes to this!
I am so ready to start my “new Life”!!
It’s nice to meet you all!

Milk Cravings……

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

Hi everybody.
I was wondering anyone else crave Milk??? I have had massive milk cravings,
and am a little concerned cause of the calorie and carb count of milk. I
only like 1%, Which in one cup provides me with 8 gms of Protein, so that
makes me happy. So far I have not noticed any problem with lactose
intolerence, and I make sure I drink my water too.
BTW, I am almost 4 months post op and down 120lbs, yes it was fast…..too
fast. But I was very sick untill a few weeks ago. I drink at least 2 litres
(60 oz +/-) of water a day… what does everyone else drink???
Thanks all

Full?

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

hello,
It is us again. John had his surgury the roux en y on
Jan 7th and he has trouble telling whether he is full,
has gas, or just hurts from the healing or is hungry.
Anyone else having this problem? WOuldn’t he know if
he is overeating. Like i thought I read that he would
throw up if he over eats. IT does not seem like he is
eating much. HE lost 40 pounds first two weeks and
only 6 the last two weeks , we weighed today. Is this
on tract. Dr seemed to think all was okay. Love and
Prayers, Teresa and John THANKS!!

Solid foods a problem

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

I am 3 months post op from having a VBG (vertical banded)surgery
and am not able to eat solid food yet no matter how much I chew chew
chew. Seems like I swallow and the food feels stuck before it even
gets to my pouch. I had an upper Gi done which looked fine. Doctor
said to keep trying for 3 more months then he would do scope and
probably will find the opening is to small(the outlet in my pouch)
and he may have to stretch it. Well if this happens he says people
tend to eat more then. Has anyone else had this problem? or the
stretching proceedure done? Id like to hear what you think.

Unidentified Pain : Help!!!

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

HI everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can help! My mom and I had our surgeries
over two years ago..hers in July of 1999 and mine in Dec of 1999.
I’m doing great! My mom was until last year when she needed her Gall
bladder taken out. Since then she was ok but now she is having
problems. She is getting horrible pains in her abdomen and up under
her rib cage. She can’t eat solid foods. Even when she eats normal
liquidy foods it is bad sometimes.
Now…they have done an endoscopy to the point where our new
intestines are attached (we had the lap RNY proximal done). That
came back normal..no ulcers etc. Today they are doing an Upper GI.
They did abdomen xrays..normal….pancreatic juices..normal. No gall
bladder.
If anyone has any hints or help..please email me at
mmcnatt@….

Sex?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

How soon after lap RNY can you have sex? My PCP never mentioned
it. He only restricted heavy lifting, strenuous activity and
driving for two weeks. What do you think? It’s been eight days
since surgery.

Pasta & RIce, Can we eat it??

Monday, June 23rd, 2003

I read in that article we are not suppose to eat pasta pr rice post-
op because it exspands in the stomach. That makes no sense to me as
it expands when its cooked not later. Is this true????? Because I
love pasta
