bra question

Okay ladies I have my 2 week check up tomorrow with Dr. Goldberg,
and need to ask: What did you do about your bra? My incision is so
high into breast area, I know that my bra will cut into the
staples. What did you do? Please let me know.

I got a comfy sports braish type tank top. Just My Size has great ones.
I just needed something with a little support.
Sometimes I didn’t wear anything at all.

May seem crazy but I was in a long line bra a week after surgery. But I was
NOT going to stay in the house and I was also NOT going to let those guys
swing free in public (lol). But the long line bra wasnt actually cutting
across. And it made me walk with correct posture. No I am NOT into S&M :) but it worked for me.

I put a thick (maxi) sanitary napkin under my bra, over the incision area.
And I wore a loose shirt so noone could see I had feminine hygiene products
    under my shirt! LOL
But the pad was thick enough to put a nice cushion over the incision and the
sticky on the pad help hold it onto my bra, which helped hold it in place.

    Hi Lisa,
Yes, I had the bra/incision problem too. What I did was buy some of those fever
reducing cooling strips (to put on kids’ foreheads to reduce fever) and put them
on my skin underneath my bra. Not only was it cooling and soothing, it also
prevents the bra from cutting into your incision. Just my two cents. :o)

I actually have been wearing a leotard (who the heck
knows why I own one ;-) ) for just a little bit of
support. I don’t want to do undies and a bra becasue
they cut in right over the incisions. Might be a bit
of a pain getting out of at the doctor’s, but it’s
really made me feel more comfortable.

I picked up some cotton sports-bras that worked great. They held
me in place but were not really binding. Where the edge of the
bra crossed over my incision line, I used some sterile gauze to
prevent discomfort. I only used these bras for the first couple
of weeks post op and was able to buy them very inexpensively at
    Walmart.
    Good luck!
