Extra Skin Plastic Surgery?
Hi everyone, I have been doing research for the past couple of months
on surgery and I have decided to go ahead with it. My appt. for
consultation is in May and I am really nervous. I’ve been readig
different sites and posts from people who have done it already and
have lost a significant amount of weight. Now my question and my
fear is of the extra loose skin. No one speaks of what to do or what
they have done about this. I don’t want to finally lose weight then
gain another problem of sagging skin. I attribute this to someone
I’ve seen who had folds of skin falling over each other on her legs,
I was sick to my stomach. Please help with suggestions, I don’t want
this to be another reason for me to stay fat…What would I do to
prevent, tighten or remove the extra skin? Would your skin tighten
back as you lose weight? Please help.
Thank You

A great deal depends on how much weight you have to loose, how many
times in your life you’ve lost and regained, and your age. I lost a
great deal (200 lbs) have lost and regained 100 + pounds several times
in my life, and am 47 years old -
everything working against me. Yet I was not prepared for how gross my
hanging skin was. I felt gypped - I worked so hard to loose the weight,
and even though I was wearing a size 10 and looked great with clothes
on, my body disgusted me. So I
had plastic surgery, and had my tummy, boobs and arms done. Now, I love
most of my body, walk around nude with comfort, and feel so much better
about things. The legs are still a problem. I can’t wear shorts,
unless they come right down to the
knee (I could, but at least at this point, I’m still self-concious about
them). I bought skirts to go over my bathing suits. I could have more
surgery to do my legs, but I don’t think I will - summer is only a few
months long, and it’s not such
a big deal anymore. I’m not sure whether they’ve tightened up a bit, or
whether I’m just getting used to them, but they don’t bother me as much.
I just got back from a warm weather vacation, and wasn’t as
self-concious as I was last summer.

Sagging skin…. It is all so individual. It depends on how heavy you
are to start and how much you are going to lose. Where do you carry your
weight? I believe that age as well as exercise and water have an effect too.
I know of people who needed tummy tucks to get rid of their hanging skin.
I have also heard of people getting their legs, boobs, and bat wings
(sagging skin on the triceps) done. My dr. says that it takes about 2 years
for the skin to catch up with the weight loss.
I for one have lost a 100. My stomach and waist are quite small,
although I do have some loose skin, I believe it will go away. (Not enough
for tummy tuck.) I carried a lot of weight in the butt and thighs. I see
more loose skin on my legs then I want and I hope it will shrink but if not I
will look into a leg lift. I look good in a pair of jeans or Capri pants. I
just can’t stand it in a bathing suit or shorts. But it is MUCH better than
staying fat!!
I hope this helps.
