No weight loss for 3 months
If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I started off at 246, I
am 5′4.5 and lost about 80lbs in the first 4.5 to 5 months. I am now
8 months post op and have not lost anything for 3 months, despite
sticking to the program. I have to admit that it is getting
increasingly difficult to stick with it now as I am still not
losing. My dieting history in the past was similar in that I would
lose 10lbs and then nothing else no matter what I did, working out
with a trainer 3 times a week and walking every day. I know what I
am supposed to be doing but it isnt working. Any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated, I am at my wit’s end, I do not want to fail
this surgery. My BMI is still registering as overweight and I did
this surgery mainly to avoid health issues that my family have
suffered from. I want to get out of the at risk category. Any
suggestions?

You probably don’t want to hear this, but you’re in
the range of what you can expect to lose. Say your
‘ideal weight’ is 120. That gives you 126 pounds of
excess weight. You’ve lost over 60% of your excess
weight. From the stats you gave, you’re currently at
about 166. For health reasons, that’s one heck of a
lot better than 246.
I’m starting off at 257 so pretty close to you and I’m
about the same height. I’d be thrilled to be 166!!!
You’re down pretty low, I would think that you’ll be
losing really slowly now.
Good luck!

I have been going through the same thing. I eat very well, always my
protien first, minimal carbs. I drink plenty of fluids and excercise more
than I EVER saw myself doing. I walk a lot and lift weights 3-4 times a
week. Yet I just went almost 2 1/2 months without losing a pound. I didn’t
panic though, because my doctor said I was NOT through losing. My size was
changing and in fact even though I hadn’t lost any pounds, I went down two
sizes during the same period. I have since lost another three pounds, so
hopefully I’m off this plateau. Plateaus happen and they always will. It
doesn’t mean you are not going to lose any more.
Best wishes,

If you are eating a lot of protein, some people have trouble breaking it down.
Ask your health food store. { Natures Sunshine} has one for natural protien
digestion called PDA Good Luck and God Bless Lynn

Truthfully you may not lose any more weight. You have lost 80% of your
excess weight — you only had 100 pounds to lose. You say you want to lose
more weight and that you have been exercising. Here is a question: what is
your body fat percentage? You may have a normal body fat percentage even
though you weigh more. than the damned insurance charts say you should
weigh. Look realistically at the parameters of what this surgery can do. YOu
have done them in record time. Your body may lose more but you have lost 80%
of your excess weight in 5 months? Jeez. Most people take an entire year to
do that.
