diet help

Help.
I am close to 3 months out and still have tremendous trouble with my protein.
Today I tried to eat some plain cod and after 3 small bites, knew I was in
trouble, I was so ill for close to 3 hours but couldn’t throw up. This
happens also from chicken, turkey, and beef. Unfortunately, I do fine with
the crispy foods like toast, crackers, cookies but I don’t want to eat that
stuff. I am getting so tired of cottage cheese and yogurt. And I don’t want
to drink more than 1 protein drink a day. Does anyone else have this problem
and how do you over come this? Does it get better?

One Year Ago Today…

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

… I weighed 344 pounds (down from my 5 year steady of 350… that 8 weeks
of constant pre-op eating made me *lose* 6 pounds!). I was unable to walk
to the end of the driveway without gasping for air… without needing 3
days to recover from the pain in my back, my feet, my knees. I could not
sit in a chair with arms… could not sit in regular theater seats, lawn
chairs, booths. I could not wipe myself properly. I could not take a
bath. I could not wear clothes that were sold in the mall (I mail-ordered
clothes from super-sized stores for 15 years). I could not go to Disney
World or Disneyland (my faves in the world!) without using an ECV. I could
not get rid of my diabetes no matter what I did… I was on several
diabetes meds, was on cholesterol meds, on triglyceride meds, on
kidney-saving meds. I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, sleep apnea,
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, snored worse
than a freight train, and breathed like I had run a marathon just sitting
in the recliner watching tv. One year ago, I ate an average of 8000-10,000

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

Hello,
My husabnd had surgury on Jan 7th . LOst 68 pound plus so far, goes
to weigh in next week again. He is having trouble with the D word.
He was doing okay and not going often but all of a sudden he has to
Sh twice a day and it is runny. Don’t mean to gross any one out
sorry. IO don’t hink it is form too much fat in his diet because we
have been watching this. Could it be he is eatring too much, too
fast, coudl it be sugar consuption? He has not been eating candy or
sweats unless sugar free then only a few pieces at a time. Some do
warn of Diareah , Now we had Easter eggs that I deviled and used
miracle whip in. COuld there be enough sugar in teh Miracle whip to
cause this? JSut wondering of any body else has had this problema dn
what are they doing to fix it. He talked to the Dr office and they
suggested Immodium after he has one but what to prevent it? Can’t
jsut take immodium all of the time. Tahnks! Teresa J

H. Pylori Bacterial Infection

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been meaning to post for several days now. I need some help. I
had Lap RNY done January 21, 2001. I have now contracted the H.
Pylori Bacterial Infection in my new little stomach.
I’m wondering if any of you have had this problem and how long it
took you to get over it. I’m taking the Prevpac set of antibiotics
and I swear the cure is almost as bad as the illness. I have almost
continual diarrhea and I’m very nauseous. I’ve also become
completely irritable. One of my doctors thinks that I am
neurochemically allergic to the antibiotics. I’m so close to the end
of the round that I’m going to hang in there and finish. I hope this
kills the bacteria off, because I can’t go through this again.
Just wondering if any of you have gone through this and come out the
other side. I could really use some support. I’m feeling pretty
discouraged.

FRIDAY MORNING….

Wednesday, October 29th, 2003

Good Morning…..
i have a quick question… i’m pre-op, and doing well on my pre op diet
required by my surgeon. My question is this… recently i’ve started having
severe foot cramps (not calf) in the evenings, and i’m wondering if its due
to the extremely low caloric intake and the intense cardio i’m doing? i’m on
the treadmill for a total of 45 minutes (5 days a week). The pain goes from
the side of the inside curve of my foot, underneath to the ball area, and
across that. We’ve massaged and wrapped in hot moist towels, which helps but
it seems to take a long ttime to subside. i mentioned this to the surgeon,
and he didnt seemed to think ti was an issue (he just asked if it happens
right after the treadmill, which it doesnt). Is there an extra vitamin
supplement or something i can add? i do take a “oneaday” vitamin daily
(well, most days). Perhaps thats not enough? i also do a protein shake in
the mornings.
Thanks in advance…

Friday Night’s 20/20 TV Show

Wednesday, October 29th, 2003

I get an email from Barbara Walters about the 20/20 TV show (I don’t know her
personally, anyone can sign up for the emails at the website) and there is going
to be a segment on this week’s show (Friday night at 10 p.m. EST on ABC - check
your local listings) about WLS. Here is the relevant excerpt from the email:
“I have been avoiding the scale all week because of the Saudi Arabian trip; the
food was delicious and all-too plentiful. I am holding my stomach in, but I am
not ready yet to take the step that Deborah Roberts will tell you about on this
week’s program: She reports on a family who banded together with friends â all
of them morbidly obese â to have their stomachs surgically stapled. It was a
decision of last resort, and Deborah’s report is a wonderful story of
determination and success.”
By the way, Deborah Roberts is married to Al Roker (of the Today Show). Rumors
(and reports in supermarket tabloids) have it that Al Roker recently had WLS.
Not sure if that’s true (and it’s none of my business) but I hope it is because
I like him.

When I feel like that, I simply drink water and it fills my pouch to the
point that it has to come up. Works every time.

Dumping?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2003

According to what I’ve read, dumping seems to be different for different
people. I just started on certain soft foods. After I eat my breakfast,
usually and egg, a little cottage cheese and 3 small peanutbutter crackers I
start having something like hot flashes and sweats. My hair gets dripping
wet and then i feel chilly when it stops. Is this dumping? It doesn’t do it
when I have lunch or supper. I’m tempted not to eat breakfast. Is this
dumping? Sharon
