Green stools (not furniture)
Hi everyone,
I have a disgusting question to ask all you posties! So, if you have a weak
stomach…skip right over this one!
I am 2 and a half months out. When I was at my one month post op appt. I
told my dr. that I had green stools. He told me it was no big deal and that
it may be bile and it should clear up and go away shortly. Well, it hasn’t
gone away and neither has the diarreah. I went and did a stool culture last
Monday and got the results yesterday and everything was negative. The nurse
told me that I could have green stools from the Trinsicon (iron supplements).
I have several friends who have had the surgery and none have experienced
GREEN POOPS! I know it’s gross and disgusting but I figured this was the
best place to post my question. All you people who have had the same thing
done…So, can anyone tell me if they too have had green poops, if they ever
found out what was causing it, and if there is a way to get rid of it. When
the dr. said the word “bile” it made me think there could be something wrong
with my liver or gallbladder.
Sorry for such a gross topic, but I need some answers!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light for me!!!

I do occasionally and my surgeon said it was the iron. Diarreah could be
because of too much fat and or dairy. Keep track of what you’re eating and
try limiting those two things. Also eat some roughage..complex carbs. It
should help too.
