Junior, Missy, and Womens sizes
Hi to All,
I just had to jump in here to clear up the differences in clothing
sizes. I used to be a fashion designer so I know whereof I speak.
Juniors are built for young bodies. The arm holes are high and
tight, the bust is small, the waist is small and the hips are flat.
Juniors are built for the un-developed teen body. Junior sizes are
odd numbers ranging from 1 to 13.
Missys are the same general size as Juniors but, are more mature
figures, larger bust, waist and hips, more rounded. The arm holes
are bigger as a Missy’s upper arm is heaver than a Juniors. Missy
sizes are even numbers ranging from 0 to 14. Junior and Missy go
hand in hand, a Junior 9 is almost the same as a Missy 10, a Junior
11 is almost the same as a Missy 12, and so on. Some clothing
carries dual sizing saying it is, for instance, a 9/10 or 11/12.
Women are the largest size range beginning with 14 or 16 and going
up. The bust, waist and hips are even more pronounced than Missys.
As the sizes increase the rise of the pants also increases because so
much weight is carried in the belly and butt. Most manufacturers
only make up to a 3X, [equal to a 26/28] but some kind souls make
clothing up to a 9X.
I hope this information helps clear up the confusion.
Hugs,
Suzi
