Opra show

Tuesday, November 25th, 2003

Dear friends -
I was wondering if this was a re-run (seriously doubt it though) as
the one woman who was considering WLS kept mentioning gas and body odor. This
subject came up in this group not too long ago. This woman said she went to a
3-hour seminar and was “spooked” by a lot of things about the surgery, but
mostly by the gas and odor.
I’m 17 months out and do have problems with gas which I’m trying to
control with diet, determining which foods cause the gas and avoiding them.
But I was appalled at how she dwelled on that subject as being the primary
reason for avoiding the surgery. I wish there was a way to reach her and
allay her fears about this subject. I have NEVER known of anyone suffering
from any kind of “body odor” after this surgery and I hope to God I don’t
have it and nobody is telling me about it. LOL
As for the other women being happy with where they are with their
bodies, it’s really hard for me to believe that they truly feel this way.

Ophra Show on Friday 4/12

Monday, November 24th, 2003

Did anyone else watch the show today on What is was like to be fat? This
show was based on a documentary filmed by a college student. It followed the
honest views of 4 women and what they felt like each day in their obese
bodies. Three were at the point in their lives were they had accepted and
were happy with how large they were and liked their bodies. The fourth was
in the process of having WLS. I found the program very good, however, I
can’t seem to believe that these women were actually “happy” with themselves.
I never was. I was miserable and never liked the way I looked. I was
always self-conscince of my weight and how others looked at me and what they
were thinking. Perhaps they have accepted themselves as they are and see no
hopes of changing it with diet and exercise or the choice of having WLS.
I am now 14 months post-op and can shop at a store I only “dreamed ” of
shopping at named Chico’s. I love their clothes and can now fit in them. I
bought myself a longsleve pullover with a really ausome southwest design on
it. I got so many compliments of how I looked so great in it. I would never

Liver Biopsy next Thursday

Sunday, November 23rd, 2003

Even though it is unlikely that the elevated (NOT slightly elevated,
but through the roof elevated)liver enzymes are because of the RNY
they can’t take anymore chances and w/do a biopsy on Thurs. I’m
nervous. It is probably the bile situation that is left from the gall
bladder being removed and sometimes backs up into the liver. I’ll get
the results on the following Thurs. 4/25th, 2 days before my
daughters very special shower to celebrate the birth and survival of
her 3 boy triplets born at only 25 weeks……….ANYONE who may have
any info on this liver thing PLEASE EMAIL ME AT ……….
sonneegirl@… The thought of having to have this reversed
is just freaking me out so bad I can’t even tell you, however remote
the odds are…….

The Final Step
Plastic Surgery Expert Says ‘Belt Lipectomy’ can Eliminate Extra
Skin From Weight Loss
Commentary
By Dr. Al Aly
Special to ABCNEWS.com
Jan. 29 Weight reduction surgery, especially the minimally
invasive kind, is one of the most rapidly growing areas of surgery
in the United States today.
The boom has been fueled by a growing public desire for rapid weight-
loss, along with recent advances in surgical techniques and
increased scientific knowledge about obesity.
In addition to surgeries, many Americans are also losing large
quantities of weight through more traditional methods such as
changes in nutrition and lifestyle habits.

Signs of a hernia

Saturday, November 22nd, 2003

Hi all,
I haven’t posted in a few weeks because I’ve beeen enjoying my new
body so much that reading and/or posting at this site was very far
from my mind.
However, I always knew that you all would be here if I need you…and
I need you now.
What are the signs of a hernia? I am starting to have pain in my
stomach when I have a BM, cough, or lift any thing heavy. I won’t see
my doctor until May 15. However, by phone he told me that if I run a
fever or experience severe pain to go to the emergency room at once.
Now that is a scary piece of advice! Why should those things worry
me? I never thought to ask the obvious question.
Thank you.

either email me or write back on here with your email address I will
send it to you via email, and keep it confidential! Thankyou so much
because I am struggling with my project! Love Liz xx.

Cardiac Catheterization on the SMO - long upd

Friday, November 21st, 2003

Ok, now that I’ve calmed down, here’s the story. I went to the
cardiologist for my clearance. EKG normal, BP 110/70. He says the
exchocardiogram is cloudy, but what he can see is normal, so he makes
an appointment for a nuclear stress test. I have the test on Monday,
April 1st. On Tuesday his receptionist calls me and says the stress
test was positive, but he wants to discuss the results with the
surgeon, and wont be available to speak to him till Friday. Wait a
sec, what do you mean my test is positive? what’s wrong with me? Why
isnt the doctor talking to me. She has me hold on for 15 minutes, he
gets on the phone and says that the stress test is “positive, but
inconclusive” and that “part of my heart didnt light up with the
nuclear juice like it should, which might indicate a blockage.” Sure,
talk to me like I’m in kindergarten. “The next logical step would be
an angiogram, but the maximum weight on the table is 400 lbs, so all
I can tell you is to lose 40 lbs and call me back, and I’ll discuss
