MGB - Mini Gastric Bypass???

Hi,
Does anyone have any information or feedback about the Mini Gastric
Bypass ( MGB ) that is performed by Dr. Robert Rutledge in, I believe,
North Carolina?
Thanks!
Deena

THE MGB is NOT the surgery for you or anyone. It is a takeoff on the old
loop bypass which no one but Rutledge does anymore. Rutledge in fact was
dropped by his hospital at one point and banned from doing the surgery.
There is a page out there that links to facts about the MGB. I forget the
name of it but if you do a search you should be able to find it. Several
surgeons who are tops in the field of bariatrics have spoken out against
RUtledge for what he is doing. Do a lot more research before you decide upon
this. Normally I say to each his own when it comes to surgery but everything
I have learned about the MGB tells me this surgery is not for anyone!

I have to agree with Ray. I wanted the MGB but my insurance made me have an
RNY in network. A half dozen of my friends (all medical professionals) chose
this surgery after their research and are all MORE than pleased with the
results. They all absolutely love Dr. R and have confirmed to me the info in
Ray’s post. Any time a new procedure is out there and threatening the
business of an established group, there will be some backlash. As in all
procedures, each of us needs to do all our OWN reading and make our own
    informed decision.

I apologize if that is the case. But when Rutledge first left his hospital
news reports were quite prolific regarding his leaving. I remember going to
the websites of the news media at the time and they confirmed that he was
discharged from his duties at the hospital and banned from practicing due to
the fact that the MGB was little more than a loop bypass and that he was
9improperly filing insurance claims. If that is no longer the case, then I
    appreciate being told otherwise.
