my surgeon

Sunday, February 29th, 2004

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there from Wisconsin that
has had wls? I will be seeing Dr.C. Geocaris. Has anybody had her
for surgery. If you have, what was your experience like. I will be
having surgery at Bellin in Green Bay.
Thanks for any info you can give!

extra skin after wls

Sunday, February 29th, 2004

Hi,
I’ve been reading all the posts consistently for the past 2 weeks-
since I started considering wls and I have a question. Does
everyone who has this surgery have loose/etra skin afterwards? Or is
it dependent on the amount of weight you have to lose? I understand
that the more weight you have to lose the more skin you’ll have, but
is there a cut off– a point at which you won’t have loose skin?
I am 5′6″ 275.. need to lose 135lbs– but the thought of loose skin
freaks me out.
I’m also wondering if there’s possibly another solution besides
plastic surgery to get rid of the extra skin. Being African American
my skin/scars keloids very easily.
I’d really appreciate some feedback on this.
Thanks,
Elena

Hello everybody

Saturday, February 28th, 2004

I am New. My name is Mary I live in Jacksonville Florida. I am 5′5
and weigh 274. I have just entered a program to have gastric bypass
and I am six months away from my surgery. I have come to this
decision after years of dieting losing and then gaining even more
back. Seems like every time I lose twenty pounds, I gain 30 back. I
have tried weight watchers, jenny Craig, metabolite, redux, metabolic
research center, that was the latest, herbalife, phentermine and
prozac, ephderine, Atkins diet and more than I can remember to lose
weight. You name it I’ve tried it. my story is probably one everyone
is familiar with. I am so excited about the prospect of having this
surgery. I also am frightened. I know the risk of complications. I
am a worrier by nature. And I have six months to drive myself crazy.
I know this will change my life and release me from the bondage my
weight has placed on me. I have a very supportive husband and
family. But I think I need to connect with people who are going

I just found out that Peak Nutrition (1-800-600-2069) as added all new
flavors to their “Bioengineered Ion-Exchange Whey Protein” powder. I ordered
chocolate and strawberry because they are the only ones I have tasted and I
loved them, but inside the packaging was a retail sheet with all their
products. All their powders mix easily with a spoon, no blender required.
Are $19.95/ 2 lb tub. Their gourmet flavors are as follows:
Chocolate Royale Chocolate Peanut Butter
Strawberry Smoothie Chocolate Raspberry
Vanilla Cream Mocha Irish Cream
Banana Blast Mango Vanilla Surprise
Butter Pecan Toffee Orange Blast
Coconut Peanut Butter
Creamy Cappuccino Tropical PiƱa Colada
Double Chocolate Extreme
I’m not sure how many carbs or protein is in each, but I know they are

I can RUN!

Friday, February 27th, 2004

I have to share my excitement over something that happened to me today. It
was terrible weather and I drove a group of us to lunch. To avoid all
getting soaked, I dropped everyone off at the door, and proceeded to the
nearest parking spot which was in the back of the building. It was one of
those nasty, cold, downpours! I started to walk, and two steps later I was
running and ran around the building into the front door. When I got inside
of the restaurant the realization hit me….for the first time in more than
30 years I had ran and it sure did feel good. It actually brought tears to
my eyes….
Today I realized I truly have recaptured every aspect of my life, thanks to
WLS.

HELP…finding a doctor

Friday, February 27th, 2004

Hello everyone…
I need some help. My doctor who was supposed to provide me with the name of
a surgeon to give me a consultation ended up not knowing one. So now I’m
back at the beginning. Has anyone had the LAP RNY done in the Philadelphia,
PA area? I prefer to have it at a big hospital so that is why I’m not
looking in the South Jersey area. If there is no one please tell me how I
can go about finding a surgeon on my own. Are there web sites that you can
look up a doctor?
Thanks,
Christine

Binders at May Company

Friday, February 27th, 2004

you can find binders at may company (Robinson-May) and i’ve worn one for
almost 2 years, and have a very slight fat apron that i am seeing the
surgeon in the morning about…
they are about 30.00 and are wonderful, mine are only under the breast to
right at the pubic line - i got an xl and had a 56 inch waist - now i’m just
in a med with a 35 inch waist
good luck! the binder helps hold the fat as you loose weight the skin has
some reasorbsion and keeps the skin from hanging……..

Weight loss in hospital

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

Hey, I was just wondering (I am sure this varies) how much weigh one loses
while in the hospital. For example, if you had a 3 day stay and had lap
surgery how much weight did you lose while in the hospital? Melissa
