Afraid Of Surgery
Hi Jazmin,
First of all, calm down. Don’t be afraid of what you’re doing. We were
all nervous in getting this done. I weighed 317 pounds, and had a fatal
brain disease from being so overweight.
This surgery saved my life and sanity. I was so tired of being fat
and looking and feeling awful.
Sure, the first few months is a time f learning after wls. I’d get
frustrated because I couldn’t take a big bite, or drink with meals, etc.
I got over it, and hey, am cheap to feed now, LOL. !!
The biggest part and most important, is doing this surgery for YOU.
Not your friends, not your family, etc. This is for YOU. There will be
people you’ll meet after you have wls (if you do have the surgery) who
will say “Oh I knew someone who had that surgery and gained all their
weight back”, or something else, etc. I tired of hearing the negative
egarding this surgery. I stopped telling people.
You must remember that after having any surgery, that anesthesia has
an effect on your mood. Your friend who had wls, is probably going
through this. This can last many months. Anesthesia doesn’t get out of
your system in a couple of days or weeks.
Try to think of all the wonderful things you’ll be able to do, great
clothes to wear, enjoying the quality instead of quantity of food.
Everyone is different and goes through different experiences with this
surgery. Your friend may have a depression problem to begin with way
before having this surgery. I don’t know. Maybe you need some space
and time away from this friend until you make your own decision without
being influenced by negativity.
We are all here for you at OSSG for support.
I don’t ever regret having this surgery. You hang in there and make
this decision for yourself. Take care.
Jennifer :))
