very new
Hi everyone my name is Susan and have just started looking into
Gastric Bypass surgery. I have spent the last few weeks online
reading others stories. I read one and say this is for me then I read
another and wonder do I want to do this to my body. I am 5′6″ and
weigh 260. That is not as bad as some of the stories I have read but
I have other health problems. Also my mother died at the age of 57
and it was linked to her weight, my father died also at the age of 65
of a heart attack. I am 36 I want to be around to see my childern
grow up and play with my grandchildern. My husband is very supportive
he loves me the way I am but I can tell he is scared for me every
time I go to the doctor he gives me 20 questions he wants me to be
around for a long time. He will be behind me 100% if I do this or if
I dont.
Thanks Susan in Oklahoma

Susan in OK,
Welcome to the list. The best thing you can do for yourself as a newbie is
read … read…..read. There is a lot of information posted to this list and
ask any question you are curious about… many people here are willing to
help. While no one can tell you what is the right decision for you…. I can
say I am 100% glad that I made the choice I did….. I love my new body …
saggy skin and all.
Take care,

I don’t know about most newbies, but I am counting on this to make me feel the
way all you post ops describe. I’ve got serious back pain for years (partly due
to my weight), starting to get a lot of knee pain, diabetes, high blood
pressure, etc, etc, etc. I’m not the type of person that cares what strangers
think of the way i look, i just want to feel human again. I want to be able to
make dinner for my wife again, instead of trying to think of easy stuff for her
to make when she gets home from work. I want to give my house a really good
cleaning again. i want to get out of my damned wheel chair. all i can do is
hope this does what you folks say. sorry for the ranting, kyle…
