the pre-surgery clean out

Monday, March 29th, 2004

Has everyone had to do the process when you trake some medication
to “clean out” your system just prior to surgery (cleansing your
bowels)?
My surgeon has not mentioned it, and my surgery is a week from
Monday. If you did not have to, how was the gas/bowel movements and
pain after surgery?
Thanks in advance for your info.

Hi All!
I have a friend in the Kansas City area and I was wondering if anyone

love to not have it open if possible.
Please let me know how to help her find a dr.

4 wk post op update

Sunday, March 28th, 2004

Hi Patricia,
I’m 3 months post-op and can eat small portions of
anything. Nothing has given me a problem yet. I
haven’t tried sugar yet - the longer I assume that
will make me sick, the better ;-) I eat chicken all the time. Steak, hamburger,
salad…everything seems to sit fine with me.
Just try one new thing at a time so if you do have a
problem, you know what to avoid.
Good luck!

rashes in the folds

Sunday, March 28th, 2004

One good thing about these rashes in the folds is your ticket to a tummy
tuck and breast lift!
Before you do anything to take the rash away, get out the camera and take
some pictures and for good measure make an appt with your pcp so it can be
documented that you have yeast infections in the folds.
I tried deodorant once and it burned like heck so what works really well is
those fungus creams you use for athletes foot (Lotrimin) and vaseline. The
vaseline will take away the pain and the rubbing friction but will take
about 3-4 days to really heal well. The Lotrimin works faster. After its
healed then you might try deodorant with powder to keep it dry. But first,
go for the pictures if you think you will want a tummy tuck or breast lift
in the future!!

SKIN REDUCTION SURGERY???

Sunday, March 28th, 2004

Hi,
I was not sure if I wanted to get some of the excess skin on left on
my body removed but I have now decided that I want to. Does anyone
have any suggestions or doctors they would suggest.
I have also heard that some burn centers are harvesting skin from
people who have had Gastric Bypasses and providing the plastic surgery
for no or low cost. Anyone heard of this?
Thanks for the help in advance!

Newbie - Sleep Apnea

Saturday, March 27th, 2004

Hello All,
I was just diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea last week.
I was wondering how long it takes to adjust and get used to wearing
your CPAP unit as well as how long it takes to start feeling some
sign of relief? Last night I went to bed with my unit and woke up
several times with it laying next to me in bed. I know that relief
doesn’t happen over night but I am hoping that I won’t continue to
find it next to me in bed.
Also, I am wondering if this hinders my chances of having WLS? The
initial consult the pulmonary specialist was talking about removing
my tonsils. Is this actually necessary? I was a little on edge
being that this was just a consult and I hadn’t even taking home the
machine for the study.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

Update on me and Trinity. :)

Saturday, March 27th, 2004

Hey Everyone,
I just thought I would update all of you. I went and saw my
OB/GYN today. I found out that I am 1 ½ cm dilated and 50% effaced. So
Trinity should be arriving at any time now. BUT if I dont have her by
June 9th then my doctor plans on inducing me on the 10th. So in about 12
days ready or not my little girl will be here.
On another note I found out I may have to have a C-section. When she did
my physical exam she told me that I am really narrow down there and
having a tilted pelvis does not help either. So she is not sure that the
baby will be able to get through. We are still going to try to have a
normal delivery and avoid a c-section but the way my body is built that
may not be possible. So If I cant have her normally then I will have to
have a c-section. YUCK. Trinity is worth it either way. And no matter
what has to happen I cant wait to hold her.
Anyways, I hope this email finds you all happy and healthy. Email me

High cholesterol diagnosis

Saturday, March 27th, 2004

I had an open VBG 12/27/01 and have lost 62 pounds. I am diabetic on
insulin. Before surgery I took 9 pills a day and 75 units of
insulin to control it. Now I am only on 10-15 units of insulin a
day! After having two seperate tests to check my cholesterol, I
have been told it is now high(it never was before!) and have started
taking Lipitor for it. Last August my total cholesterol was 168 and
my LDL was 64. Now, it it 211 and 141! Does anyone have any ideas
as to why it is going up.
Thanks.
Janet
