Dr. Felix in Fresno???

Friday, April 30th, 2004

Anyone out there have Dr. Felix in Fresno for Lap RNY? If so, what
were your experiences? Was he a good surgeon? Did you have any
complications? His web site warns that sometimes he has to convert
what was supposed to be a lap procedure into an open procedure. Has
that happened to anyone out there? Was his staff good? Was his
aftercare good?
Any information would be greatly appeciated.
Thanks!

I’m freaking out! 2 more days!

Thursday, April 29th, 2004

Hello all,
My surgery is in 2 days, 2 days, 2 days, 2 days! OMG my surgery is in 2
days. I’m starting to panic. Have I covered all the basis? What did everyone
have done before surgery? Was the house immaculate? I did the shopping. I’ve
prepared babysitting arrangements. I am going stir crazy. 2 days is a long
time in hours you know. I wasn’t nervous about the procedure at all until
this morning. Now I seem to be freaking out! Especially cause I just read
someone’s report on their lapriscopic procedure and they said they had 2
tubes inserted. I had a breat reduction and it hurt so badly when they
yanked out the jp tubes. Is this what happens? My palms are sweaty, my heart
is racing. I am so nervous! And I still have to get through 2 more days.
Doesn’t help that my husband keeps saying 2 more days, can you believe it.
YES I CAN BELIEVE IT!!!!! Oh gosh 2 more days. Help.

The family will be being moved this evening into another room at the

Update to Psych Eval Killed My Insurance Approval

Thursday, April 29th, 2004

I was recently denied insurance approval due to my psych eval stating
I was too depressed and needed probable treatment. I went back today
to the office of Mr. 180 Pounds, PhD.(I had only gone to him because
his office offers free counseling as an employee benefit where I
work.) I told him that after the insurance company had seen his eval
I was denied. We went over the eval right there in his office. I was
shocked by his misunderstandings of what I had said and how he had
misinterpreted and turned my words around. I’m not going to say that
I know more than he does about psychology but a lot of the “facts” he
had written were not even true. For example he had asked about my
support system. I told him my husband was very supportive but my
mother who had been my main support all my life had had a stroke a
couple of years ago and she could no longer talk. My Dad had always
been the quiet one in their relationship so, even though he is very
supportive of me, he doesn’t do a lot of talking. We have always been

Hurricanc Survival & WLS diet

Wednesday, April 28th, 2004

The sincere input on this website has been a tremendous resource for me. Thank
you for all who take the time to respond. I am 3 weeks pre-op and making final
preparations for life after surgery. I live on the NC coast and it is common
during hurricane season (June through October) for our area to be without
electricity for 2 to 3 days following a direct hit - of which we’ve had several
in the last 6 years!!. Wondered if anyone, particularly in the first few months
following surgery, had experienced no refrigeration, no blender, no stove or
oven, and no functioning grocery stores? Some how I don’t think my storm
stand-by’s like Vienna Sausages, chips, & Coke will work for me this time. Do
you have suggestions what to have on hand to survive the next Hurricane and yet
maintain the WLS protocol? Thanks!

watch the fat content of Stouffers. Make your own instead, and since you
don’t eat the pasta don’t use it. Fat free cottage cheese and low fat cheese.

Poop problems….

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

I personally find the more water I drink the better I go. And yes I too do
not go as often as before, but then again I am not taking in as much food as
before. My Doc says at least 64 OZ WATER on top of all the rest……
before taking anything else for the bowel problem I would call my doc and
see what he suggest.
I too have had the stool like you described, you seem to be dehydrated and
your body will take it from the bowel to hydrate itself. Just try to sip
water all day as you can. ONLY MY OPINION….
Good Luck
