Vitamin Reaction?
Here’s one I’ve never heard before and I am looking for opinions before I
make another purchase.
The only requirement from my surgeon is a “multi-vitamin”. Flintstones
chewables are fine, but not required.
First I tried chewing the Flintstones and the taste was so awful it caused
me to gag. Then I tried to swallow them without chewing and I couldn’t
because it hurt. So I switched to One-A- Day Maximum Formula. While they
are large and not particularly pleasant to swallow, I can tolerate getting
them down. The problem, however, starts about 15 minutes after and
continues for up to two hours. It starts with the front of my face getting
tight. Then my jaws gets tight followed by a mild headache. This is followed
by mild nausea. I have tried taking it with food, with various amounts of
liquid, and at different times, but I get the same reaction. For about the
next two hours I feel mildly ill and have to really pace myself with my
activities. Lots of times I feel like I need to lie down after taking my
vitamin.
Can anyone guess what ingredient(s) in my vitamin is giving me these
symptoms?

Sounds kinda like the vitamin is getting caught in your stoma. Why
don’t you try crushing it or try another childrens chewable or liquid.

Melissa, i had the same problems with vitamins, found out the third
ingreident in alot of them are
citric acid, and it also made my mouth get ulcers, so i try to get my
protein in, and make sure
the vitamin and mineral content is enough to supplement

Oh! also oranges, bananas, strawberries, kiwis, grapefruit does it to ,and when
it does, it`s like back off and wait 2 hours for the pouch to settle and then
start over ETHEL
