new/old
Hi to all those who remember me. I’m Margaret from South Jersey. Had
Gastric By-pass on 12/10/98. Was pregnant by 3/99. Had lost 70lbs by
then and was thrilled by the weight loss, NOT the pregnancy. But I
lost 50 more during the pregnancy and had a perfect son in 12/99. (4
days before the mellenium!) So, I had lost a total of 120lbs and
felt great. By 12/2000 I found out I was pregnant again (a son, born
4 days before 9/11) and gained about 30, lost 20 after he was born.
My thing is, is it harder to loose weight after a certain amount of
time? I want to loose about 50lbs but I eat good, not by any
means “Normal!” and it just seems to hang around on my body.
Anyone in the same boat (No, I don’t want to sign on to OSSG
Pregnant. Not enough response, membership, whatever, but didn’t get
much of a response there last year.)
THanks to anyone who can help. Really, it’s not a pregnancy issue as
much as it is a time = weight loss issue.

Truthfully you are normal. The surgery is only geared towards helping you
take off 60-80% of your excess weight and maintaining that loss. YOu got
pregnant too soon and that probably impacted how much you would lose during
the honeymoon period. But pregnancy in and of itself usually impacts women.
many many women find that after pregnancy it is tougher to lose weight. What
you are going to have to do is up the exercise and monitor what you eat in
order to lose the rest. You have done rather well but you are going to have
to work hard to take more off. I sympathize and I do remember you. It is
good to see you posting.
