200LBS AND UPDATE….kinda long
Well it has now been 1 year since my surgery. I posted a few weeks ago and
had responses from a lot of people, thank you for writing me. I haven’t got
to get back to all because it has been a horrible month. It started with the
sudden death of a family member than I was rushed to the Hospital and had
emergency surgery. I went to the ER for severe abdominal pains and vomiting
the stupid jerk of a doctor sent me home without running any tests saying it
was gastritis(sp). Needless to say I was back that night in worse pain and
vomiting stool. Yeah that was GROSS. The great doctor that was there than did
a CT scan and found a small bowel obstruction. they admitted me right away
and inserted a NGO tube without a scope like I asked. That was a horrible
experience. That was Saturday, by Monday morning I was vomiting every 1/2
hour or so. So they did an emergency surgery. The doc said when they got in
there I was a mess full of adhesions, and my colon was completely white, they
didn’t think it could be saved, but by the grace of God once they removed the
rather large adhesion that was on it, it pinked right up and did OK. Once I
was awake I felt wonderful couldn’t believe how great I felt almost like
nothing was wrong. When the doctor came in to see me later he said we really
didn’t think you were going to make it threw this surgery you were pretty
sick. Even the anestialogist(sp) came to see me and told me the same thing. I
was vomiting so much they thought I would aspirate. Boy what a scary time I
had. Come to find out the stupid nurse (that I asked to please use a scope b4
she put in the NGO tube) didn’t put the tube in correctly and that is why I
was still vomiting instead of it being suctioned out like it should have
been. I am not trying to scare anybody by sharing this just wanted to let
everyone know how I was doing and the importance of getting the NGO tube put
in by using a scope. Even though she fought me and I was to sick to keep
fighting her. I have had 5 different surgeries in my abdominal area and they
say it caused all the scar tissue to keep building up. All this time for the
last few months I thought my hernias had come back and that was what the pain
was from but was I wrong. I will never wait again.
Now on a good note I have now lost 200 lbs. down from 356 to 156 and actually
still losing from all the IV fluids, I get on the scale everyday and have
lost a few more. And yes I still am glad I have had this surgery my life is
so much healthier and better in all ways. Looking back to 13 months ago when
I was pre-op I never thought this day would come. I AM SO VERY HAPPY. I
thank God for this new body and life.
Well thanks for listing, Take Care all.
