Any North Carolina people out there?
Hi everyone! I haven’t posted in a while. I have been reading the
posts and I can see that I’m not alone with fear of eating the wrong
foods or not getting the exercise in. I go to a therapist every 2
weeks since before the surgery to work on the food issues and it is
emotional for me. I’ve always loved food, I always will! I miss the
chocolate cake and New York Cheesecake and I especially miss the Tom
and Jerry’s ice cream, but that’s life! My problem has been that
I’ve also been getting hungrier. It seems that the more carbs you
eat, which also has more sugar, makes you hungrier. I realized that
I’m not getting in as much protein as I’m eating out of emotions
again. I hope this isn’t off subject, because it has to do with my
surgery; does anyone else find that having a relationship after a few
months of having surgery, that the person ends up not understanding
how you could have been so fat in the first place. I’ve lost 167 lbs
total, I was 406 at the start, and am 237 now. I am 5′7 and blonde

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about this and it’s bugging me. I am a
terribly picky eater. There isn’t a whole lot a variety in my diet. I
don’t eat any sort of pasta, pizza, rice, nothing with any kind of sauce or
gravy, a few veggies, a few fruits, and my soda - I LOVE my coke. I know
I’ll have to give up my coke, and I’m ready to make that sacrifice. I’ve
actually found some flavored carbonated waters that are really good (one
even tastes like grape soda - and it’s just water! No fat, sodium,
calories, NOTHING!). Anyway, what will I be able to eat after surgery? I
don’t think I could tolerate potted meats and cottage cheese…..any ideas?
hi,
I am Robin in 7 months I have gone from size 28 and weighing 300lbs- to
160lbs and a 14- but my hair started falling out at 6 months I had thin hair
already and it runs in my famile so now I am wearing wigs every day has
anybody had any results from prescriptions???
Today I had my appointment with Dr. Swain at the Mayo Clinic. He said
he will beg me scheduled as soon as possible, because of my medical
problems., within the next 2 months. I am so excited. I have been
trying to get approval for this surgery since 2000.
The one thing Dr. Swain wanted was for me to attend the support
group, it is the 3rd sat of every month at Mayo Hospital. I was
wondering if anyone in this group attend these? Please let me know
if you do, I would love to at least know a name when I go, I plan on
attending this sat.
Also Kevin if you are still out there, please email me, I has lost
your email address, I had a computer die in Feb and lost most of my
files and everything I had saved. It was great talking with you
before, so If you are still out there please email me.

Are there many in this group that have had surgery with Dr. Swain at

Lucindy I go to my family doctor and have been since 3 months out. I might
go and check in with my surgeon at the one year mark. My surgeons office
staff are not friendly at all. Some are down right rude to the patients. I
try to stay away. I had asthma and had some problems after surgery and the
RN (Jane), stated oh we wish we had a magic ball we could look into and let
you know every little bug you’d come down with. That upset me, since my
problem was my asthma and I was having problems breathing. They used
medicine that was contraindicated for asthmatics while I was in the hospital
and knew I had asthma. The nurses station lost my asthma inhalers while I
was in the hospital. The list goes on and on. I think going to your regular
doctor is fine. It works for me. Lisa46038
Did anyone really expect an indept discussion about WLS on “The View “; that
would have been a miracle . I have only seen two or three shows that even had
any knowledge of the subject . Even Oprah seemed out of the waters when she was
talking to Carnie.
Hi all,
I just called the hospital and she is now in the ICU rm23. They wouldnt
give to much info since Im not family. But the nurse said she was doing ok.
They expect her to go to her room tomorrow! Keeping her in my thoughts and
prayers!!!

Hello My Friends,
Well its been a year since my surgery. Life is good. I can’t say that the past
year has been hard at all. My weight lose is what I call normal. Since the very
beginning I have lost 10 lbs. each month, well, until recently. In April I lost
5, in May I gained 8, in June I lost 8 and so far in July I have gained 3. Which
all in all gives me a grand total of 94 lbs. lost in a year. I know, most have
lost twice that amount in the first year. I started out at 303 lbs and am 5′1″.
I should have lost more…at least by everyone else’s statistics but, I am happy
with what I have done. I try to remember to get on the scale once a
month…sometimes I forget and then I have to ask my husband how much I weighed
the last month. I faithfully take my vitamins but I am awful when it comes to
protein. I give myself a B12 shot each month and never forget that. My body
seems normal to me. Never constipation…never diarhia. I never vomit. I drink
some water but live on ice tea. I can drink some soda but it has to be low
carbonation. I don’t drink alcohol. I can eat sugar. I do not dump. The really

I was looking at the Valleyfair website…
I just noticed that they consider us “Guests of exceptional size”.
If we are so exceptional, why doesn’t everyone want to be like us?
