Nausea—trial and error???

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

Hi,
I’m posting for my husband because he says “men don’t ask for help on
the internet”. Maybe if you give me some suggestions and I can finesse
them as “his ideas” it will work <g
He is 8 weeks post op.. Open RNY. He has lost about 80
pounds….depending whether or not you count the bowel prep! He is back
at work and eating solid food, in tiny amounts.
Occasionally he gets nauseous after eating things he had no problem with
a couple days ago, or even after a protein shake or yogurt that normally
goes down perfectly fine. Last evening he wasn’t just nauseous, he was
vomiting. He had eaten a couple fork fulls of his leftovers from lunch.
It didn’t bother him at lunch, why would it bother him later?
Is there some cause he should look to more than the actual food? Speed
of eating, or quantity of food or combination of eating and drinking or
??????

Help needed…

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

Hello, I don’t know that this is the right forum, but I’m hoping you
guys can help. My brother is considering this surgery, and my
parents are very concerned and unsupportive, so far. I don’t know if
this surgery is right or wrong, and haven’t found anything helpful on
the web to make me think one way or the other. Are there any
websites you can recommend? Additionally, is counseling/analysis on
the patients relationship to food done? I’m concerned he hasn’t ever
truly addressed his diet, and will end up slowly gaining his weight
back and being more unhappy than he is now.
Thanks!

Maja 16 month update…HELP!

Saturday, July 24th, 2004

Hi gang,
It’s been awhile since i’ve posted. Still stuck in the 140’s wondering if
i’ll ever reach my goal however I am so happy to be considered normal and not
have to take so much meds for health problems. Lately i’ve gotten layed off
from my job of 8 yrs and this has caused alot of panic for me since i’m
getting married in October. I don’t know what i’m going to do w/my life as i
do not have a college education and printing industry is all I know. Anyway,
the stress and boredom has made me turn to food once again and dealing w/the
guilt and anger of eating wrong foods is making things that much harder. DO
not want to fail at this. I’ve worked so damn hard to get to this point. I
don’t even go to the gym anymore and this is the same person who ran 5k’s
only few months ago. HELP i need to get back on the right track.
The funny thing is I KNOW THE RULES i know what needs to be done so why am I
not doing it??? I keep snacking and don’t realize what i’ve done until it’s
too late. The days are flying by and i’m starting to realize this may be it

FIGHTING SNACKS

Saturday, July 24th, 2004

Hi Everyone,
I had my RNY on 09-24-01 and have lost 104 pounds, and I can’t even remember how
many inches. Well I’ve gone from a size 3X to a size 18 (which I haven’t seen in
so many years I can not even remember when). I now can walk and breathe at the
same time and can even exercise when my back allows. And I am happy and I now
like myself. Even though I have 50 pounds yet to go to my goal.
My problem is now I am getting hungry for ’snack foods’ and I do not know what
would be considered ‘good’ to snack on. Or should I even be thinking of a snack?
Right now I don’t know what I should be doing or how much I should be eating or
how often - I guess I am lost. Anyone here knows how to make a good homemade
protein drink? I love yogurt and fruit and could eat only them during these hot
days. Yes I know I need help, and my surgeon does offer a support group -3 hrs.
away & I don’t like to drive in Pittsburgh, esp. evening hours - so I turn to
you all.
Any type of help - ideas or suggestions would be so appreciated. I thank you all
