Tip for getting in more water
I thought I’d pass along a tip for taking water along with you. When
I was a brand new post-op, I could only drink water comfortably if it
was warm. Now that I’m two months out, I usually prefer to drink it
cold again. I *hate* buying bottled water, plus it gets warm if you
leave it in a parked car. A friend turned me on to a solution:
stainless steel vacuum sports bottles. I got an 18 oz Thermos model
at Target, in the sporting goods/camping section, for about $15. It
keeps water cold for hours, is unbreakable, and slim enough to go into
most car cup holders or throw in a large purse. They’re not cheap,
but if you’re in the habit of buying bottled water they should pay for
themselves quickly. I keep a Brita filter pitcher in my fridge and
fill them from that. I’m slowly turning my husband on to drinking
water instead of soda pop, we take our bottles when we go to outdoor
events.
For longer jaunts I got a couple of larger ones made by Nissan
Stainless (which I believe is part of Thermos); I bought them on line.
I also just looked on ebay, and there’s one made by Maxam for much
cheaper money; it looks like a knockoff of the Nissan stainless,
though I have no personal experience with it.

my kids showed me how to have cold water all summer long, when they know they
are going to be outdoors most of the day they stick their water bottles in
the freezer the night before….this even worked for me on a brutally hot day
at the bronx zoo!

I do something similar - every morning i stop in at 7-11 (I’m usually
in there for something else anyway), and i bring in my double gulp
cup and fill it with ice. I never get charged for even a refill, and
the i sip on the ice water as it melts all day.

Hi all,
My tip for getting in more water is when I watch TV, I take a drink during
every commercial break. I started doing this right after surgery during
recovery when I sat in a recliner all day long (augghh, how boring). It
seemed to work for me though. I do it now as a habit. I don’t even think
about it much any more. I don’t follow all the rules as well as I could,
but water is one that works pretty well for me on a consistent basis.
My best to everyone.
