W.L.S and mother of 2year old child.
Is there anyone out there, who has had w.l.s,with a very young child
in the home. I would love to hear from you and how you managed. At
this point, this is what is stopping me from moving forward in my
w.l.s pursuit. As always, thanks for listening. Tracey.

Hello Tracey,
I had my WLS on 4/17/02 & at the time my daughter was 2 years 7 months old.
Thankfully I had the help & support of my wonderful husband & my family (mother
& sisters helped so very much).
My mother & sisters took care of my daughter while I was in the hospital
(husband stayed with me) & when I got out he took care of everything. I started
telling my daughter about 3 months before my surgery that Mommy was sick & she
was going to go see the doctor & after that Mommy wouldn’t be able to carry her
for a while. Little by little I carried her less & less so that when I got out
of the hospital she didn’t ask me to carry her she would ask daddy.
Also, when I got home from the hospital she was very curious about my “boo boo”
so I showed her my “big band-aid” & she seemed to understand that she had to be
careful when she was around me. I understand that not everyone is as lucky as
me to have such a wonderful support system. I just wanted to share my
experience with you. Good luck & if you have any other questions, please feel
free to email me. I would love to talk to you more.
