WLS and Hysterectomy for Uterine cancer
I had all my pre-op tests done and was ready to schedule my WLS with
Dr Herron at Mt Sinai in NYC. Today my GYN called and gave me the
results of the endometrial biopsy I had last week. Cancer. I have to
go back to him Friday to discuss a treatment plan and I know that one
of the options is a hysterectomy (especially since I’m Post-
Menopausal). I’d like to kill two birds with one stone and have the
WLS and Hysterectomy at the same time. My question: Does anybody know
if they will do the WLS if you have cancer? I realize why they
wouldn’t normally - Nutrition concerns. But since a complete
hysterectomy can cure endometrial cancer if caught in it’s early
stages, I wonder if they would still do WLS? Has anyone had a
Hysterectomy and WLS at same time? Please email me at
ibyte@…. Anyone who would care to pray for me, I’d
appreciate it. Kath

This is definitely a question for your surgeon but do not be surprised if
they say no. There are many reasons that come to mind to not have WLS when
you have cancer. For one thing both are huge stresses on the body. Another
thing is definitely the nutritional concerns. How can you heal from WLS and
CANCER when you are barely eating enough to function? There are no
guarantees with cancer. You need to make sure that that is taken care of
completely before you have anything else. Don’t try to do it all at once.
Get the cancer treated and then go for WLS. Take care and you are in my
prayers.
