Suggested info. - Chris S.
First let me say… Congrats, Chris!! Fantastic! I myself would love to have a
WLS coordinator at my docs office. Well.. he does..just not as informed or
‘been there’ as you will be. You asked for possible suggestions as to what
patients might be concerned, have questions and need info. about. I have 2
suggestions myself…. here goes:
1. For females anyway (as I am one…lol) I have heard that when in the process
of the rapid weight loss phase, estrogen - since it is stored in the fat cells -
floods the system. I myself, as I’m sure at least SOME women pre WLS are, am on
estrogen supplement and am really concerned about this ‘flooding’ factor and
would like to know what to do pre- and/or post-op about this. Overdose of
estrogen is extremely dangerous. I have talked to various physicians and get a
“Hmmmm…” response, including my surgeons WLS coordinator.
2. (Also female related… sorry guys…lol) Surgery has been said to ‘kick in’
the menstrual cycle requardless of scheduling around it. It’s a bit tough to
imagine that if you were to literally have surgery the day following ‘the last
day’ that this could happen. Just the same, as a WLS patient I would want to
know just how this could be avoided, eg. meds or what? I mean really.. after
all… who needs it?? Am I right ladies?? LOL
Thank you~
Rose
PS. If you do find out answers to these questions, could you please post here
or email me… I’d like to inform MY own WLS coordinator also. Thnx. :o)
