Lunelle shot

Sunday, November 28th, 2004

I am looking to chat with all the ladies out there who are taking the Lunelle
birth control shot, or who have taken it in the past.
I am currently on ortho cyclen birth control pills, but am seeing my OB/GYN in
the end of October and want to change over to the Lunelle monthly shot. If there
are any of you out there who are willing to tell me your experiences with it
good and bad, please email me and let me know!
Thanks!
Kelly
P.S. No Depo Provera shot for me, just those of you who have taken the Lunelle. :-)

bmi indicators

Sunday, November 28th, 2004

I think that your BMI is an individual thing. My husband weighs 178
and is 6′2 and his doctor told him that he is in the healthy range and
he should try to stay under 185 lbs no matter what to be healthy, thus,
190 would be borderline overweight for him. He is tall and lean and
some might say he is skinny but unfortunately our society doesn’t see
people that are where they should be in regards to a normal weight as
normal but “skinny”. I am almost still considered overweight according
to my BMI and my weight and most people say you are skinny and
shouldn’t lose any more weight. So I don’t really rely on BMI and
charts and scales. I love my size 6s and I feel good that’s all I know.
Just my 2 cents.

Looking for a support group

Sunday, November 28th, 2004

Hi everyone,
First order of business, I would like to thank everyone for the heart
felt messages. You never know who you’re helping by sharing your
messages of hope and inspiration. I had surgery on 07/26/02 in San
Diego and I am looking for a support group in the Ventura, Ca area. I
can’t seem to find anything with WLS. Could I be the only one? I hope
not. If you have any information or if you live in this area and
would like to start our own WLS support group please send me an email.

question–doing it over

Saturday, November 27th, 2004

I am responding to the question of would you do it over. I am thrilled
with my surgery and the results. I feel and look like a normal person
and I eat like one, too.
This weekend I went to Indy for the formula 1 race with my husband and
15 of his friends. I enjoyed myself, I dressed in cute clothes and I
ate like a normal person. I was actually amazed at how much men eat in
general. I did have several comments about how little I eat from some
of the guys but they were happy to take my leftovers. I just said that
I eat until I am full not until I finish the plate. I was able to go
out for steak dinner and I had a little piece of corn muffin, a quarter
of a salad and about 6 oz of a grilled filet mignon and I was done and
satisfied. When everyone ordered dessert I was full enough not to want
it. Some of the guys even commented, “no wonder you look so great–you
know when to push the plate away.” I still get sick every once in a
while; I can’t do sugar and even sugar free stuff sets me back because

Question about Exercise

Saturday, November 27th, 2004

Hi everyone. I am approaching my 5th month post-op, and I am
thrilled with the results thus far. I started out weighing 324
pounds, and so far I’ve lost a little over 100 pounds. I already
feel like a completely different person.
I joined a gym about a month ago. I go 4-5 times a week for about an
hour each time. I’ve only been doing cardio activities so far–
treadmill, bicycle, elliptical. My question is this: should I start
working with weights too? I’ve only been doing cardio because I’ve
heard several people say that if you start working with weights when
you’re still pretty overweight, your body will get too bulky and it
will be harder to lose actual weight. I still have a lot to lose, so
I’ve just been exercising to boost my metabolism and burn additional
fat, not necessarily to build muscle yet. I want to eventually
include weights into my regimen, but I figured I’d wait until I lost
about another 40 pounds or so if what I’ve been hearing is true.

beginning diet

Saturday, November 27th, 2004

I am 4 days out of open rny surgery. My doc prescribes liquids only
for a full three weeks - juice, broth, milk, sf jello, juice, broth,
milk, sf jello, juice, broth, milk, sf jello……
I’m doing fine for now but can’t imagine three weeks of this. Does
anyone have any insight on why different doctors performing the same
procedures have such widely varying rules for those first few weeks?

RNY v. Plastics

Saturday, November 27th, 2004

People have been writing me asking me why I think there was such a difference
between WLS and Plastic Surgery.
I think the major reason was my health. Recovering from a major operation is
just much easier now, when I can run 12 minute miles, than it was at 324 when
I could barely make it to the mailbox a few feet from my door.
Now, I can use my other muscles to lift myself out of bed; I have powerful
arms and back from weightlifting for months and months (almost 2 years now!).
Now, too, my breathing is just easier, stronger.
I hope that helps.

update to all
My case has finally been submitted to the insurance company for
review. Maybe my next post will be to say I have a date! How does
one pass the time while waiting? I’m going nuts and it’s only been 5
days. nursecapper

Digest Number 4052

Friday, November 26th, 2004

Hi everyone. Its Tema the lurker and occasional poster. My date is November
6th and Im having a bit of a hard time with depression. I feel so sad and
lethargic all the time. I want to withdraw from the world. I often take my
phone of the hook and sleep as much as I can. I think I do all my living in
the computer. Sometimes I stay up all night reading mail and posts from you
guys and my other wls groups. Is this normal? Has anyone else gone through
this? I hate the way I feel right now. I should be so excited. What the
heck is wrong with me anyway? Thanks for being there. Tema
