Having second thoughts
Subject: Having second thoughts
Hi–My name is Kay this is my first e-mail to the group. Firstly, I want to
say that I have been reading all your comments for about one and a half
months now and thoroughly enjoy them. I find them extremely helpful in all
areas. I am approved for Lap-RNY on 22 Oct and have been really excited and
looking forward to the surgery.
Today I came upon a site that was entitled “Things to think bout when you
are considering WLS” There were some disturbing items listed. I have Lupus,
it is external so far but it is among the things listed after long term WLS.
This site describes long term surgery as six years or more. It also states
that you may be prone to osteoporosis because the calcium is absorbed in the
duodenum which is removed during surgery. Therefore you may not be able to
get calcium in the long term.
There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of info about the long term, If my
recollection is accurate I believe five years has been the longest comments
that I have read. There are some very knowledgable postings and I am
thoroughly impressed. I would sincerely appreciate any long termers or those
with info regarding the long term effects. I am having second thoughts after
reading this info today.
My e-mail address is kay@…, please help me, I do want this surgery.
Thank you, Kay Cooney
