Smoking..
I just wanted to tell you that on Aug. 1st, when the surgeon said he would do
my WLS, I commited to him I would quit smoking and I did. That first week I
did smoke one pack and that was it. I told the surgeon that one of the
reason I smoked was to keep from gaining weight, and I really believe that,
but at about 240lbs, it wasn’t doing a very good job of helping me lose
weight. Anyway, my surgery is in 9 days and I feel good about not smoking.
Knowing that I can lose weight while I’m not smoking has really encouraged
me. I have smoked on and off for 30 years and this was the easiest time I’ve
ever had, I look at it as a gift and I am grateful that I haven’t had to
fight any urges. Maybe knowing that I had to quit in order to qualify for my
surgery has been the key. Whatever it is, I’ll take it and hopefully keep it
after my surgery.
