First time to Post!

Monday, December 27th, 2004

Hi everyone!
My name is Becky and this is the first time I have actually written into
this group even though I read daily the posts on this site. I have been
researching and studying everything I can about all of the procedures out
there. I have taken my time in trying to find the right situation for me.
When I first heard about wls in July 02, I was ready without much planning,
just anxious to get going and wanted the surgery done yesterday. I’m sure
many of you can relate. lol! I couldn’t do that because I was on UHC
insurance at the time and was changing to Cigna on Oct.1st. I didn’t really
want to start with one insurance and find I couldn’t complete what I had
started and then have to start all over again with another. This was a very
fortunate thing and now I really know I have a angel on my shoulder. Since
I couldn’t just jump in there I had to do my homework and get my ducks in a
row. I started listening and reading to everything I could get my hands on.
The internet has been great and you all are great to share all of your

CALGON etc

I can’t believe you had to do all that calling yourself. Didn’t the surgeon
have names of pshychologist or nutritionist they worked with? What a pain
in the butt.

Slowed weight loss..frustrated

Monday, December 27th, 2004

I had my surgery on 1-29-02 and am down from 270 at 5″6″ to 177
lbs. I’ve been frustrated because my weight loss has slowed to a
trickle…only 2-4 lbs a month over the last 3 months…very
frustrating. I’d like to weigh about 145 and fear that I won’t get
there. I struggle with exercise consistancy. Also I sometimes get
on sweet kicks (very scarey yet NOTHING like preop). I have been
feeling kinda bad about myself because of these imperfections, even
though I’m THRILLED with my new size 14ish body. It helps when I
hear from people with similar loss patterns who are now approaching
or have reached goal weight. IT IS VERY REASSURING TO ME THAT I’M
OKAY, THAT I, TOO, WILL GET THERE. It is frustrating when I hear
about people losing all of their weight so much faster than me. I
get so scared at times that I’ll “fail” at this too. I am
determined to continue to succeed and constantly praise myself
for “what I’m doing RIGHT”, instead of beating myself up for my poor

Monday, December 27th, 2004

I wanted to thank everyone for their responses to me regarding my concern about
my first experience of plateauing.
Your words of experience and advice gave me reassurance and direction.
Thanks to you all again for taking the time to respond to me!

2 Mos out, great Ups and worrisome Downs

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

Hello All,
On Aug 19th I had open RNY, and no complications, can not even feel
sensitivity in stomach area, mid section. Feel GREAT!!
I’ve already lost over 50#. What is funny is that the biggest loss,
immediatly after surgery not as significant change of body sense as
these last weeks when I lost just another 10#. Now can see and feel
the changes in way clothing fits, body feels as I sit, stand, reach
for things, quicker step to my walk, arms feel different hanging next
to my body — tremendous! wonderful! exciting! freeing!!!
Down side - last week faced with several disappointments - career,
relationship, family, car issues and found I went for the FOOD.
Thank God, not to the extent I would have in the past, not the same
choices or quantity — but it brought the reality of my behavior
choices right to the forefront. Good Thing, yes. It was a reality
check. There is still work I have to do. Learn to Talk, Talk, Talk

Hi I’m finally back….I think

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

I hope some of you remember me…I used to go by the name Lynne S…
My computer crashed, and because of no computer, I went out and got a
life!
SO….I finally got it together and had the computer fixed, and
hooked it up to DSL, which has fixed my problem of comunicating with
you…I hope anyway. We’ll see once I try to submit this post.
At any rate, I started on this journey in Oct 2000; had the lap rny,
had some problems, and then had an open rny; I healed and recovered
and began to slowly tranform in every way a person can transform.
I went from a size 26/28 to a size 10. I went from a couch potato,
and food adict, to an aquatic director of a pool, an EMT student, and
a synchronized swim coach/ swimming instructor. Unbelievable.
Mixed in with all the wonderful things that has happened in my life,
there has also been heartache….my husband and I are starting
divorce procedures. Things were going ok for such a long time after

I lost….

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

Hi all, I just woke up!!! My trip to Pittsburgh today really wiped me out. We
got home around 3:30 & I have been sleeping since 6:30{it is now 10:30} but I
had promised everyone alittle note saying how I had did today…Trip went pretty
good bumps hurt like hell & I bitched at hubby *LOL* …Are you ready for this?
I sure wasn’t??? I lost 20 lbs. in 10 days. & I didn’t believe the scales so I
asked the nurse if I could “PLEASE” be weighed on the scale I first weighed in
on & GUESS WHAT??? It was right I lost the 20lbs… I am very excited… Just
one thing you should know! you know how I have been on clear liquids, well the
student Dr. made a mistake when I went home I was allowed Pureed foods. But
anyways I made it though & now I am good to go…I am on soft foods now. So now
it is protein, protein, protein…This start my new life’s journey… take care
& lots of luv & hugs P.S. The surgery I had is: Laproscopic Rouxeny Gastric
Bypass. on 10/07/02 I started at 346 /326/ 145. Sorry I had posted earlier I
had started at 344, which I was wrong I found out after going to my Apt. today.

New and need help!

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

Hello to all! I am new to this group, so not sure what to do. I had
RNY surgery done in July, 2000, and originally lost 95 pounds in the
first six months. Since then, I have not only not lost any more
weight, but over the past few months, I have gained 30 pounds. I
really need some help and support.
Thanks,
Lynnie

CALGON…TAKE ME AWAAAAAYY!!

Saturday, December 25th, 2004

…of course, I can’t even fit into my bathtub, so I guess Calgon won’t do me
much good right now, lol.
Anyway…My name is Cindy. I’ve posted here a few times and I always read
the posts from the group and have learned a lot. The reason I’m writing now
is because I’m going CRAZY with all the insanity of getting the psych eval
and nutritionist appt’s going.
I was originally scheduled for surgery in February, but I got a call 2 days
ago telling me that I may very possibly be going in the next few weeks, so I
had to hop to and get these things done. Well, I never imagined it would be
so hard! I have literally been on the phone for the past 2 days trying to
find a psychologist that 1…accepts my insurance and 2…returns phone
calls! EGADS! Well, I finally did get an appointment for this coming
Tuesday and now I am racking my brains trying to find a nutritionist. I’ve
called every number I can find in the phone book and mainly, they’re just
interested in talking me out of this. NOT gonna happen. So I’m now waiting
