I sent this yesterday, not sure it came through so I am sending it again…
The easiest way to get up is to bend legs at the knees laying flat on bed, place
hands or fore arms under thighs or knees (whatever you can reach) and use your
legs (a sort of rocking forward motion) to lift your upper body off the bed.
This bypasses the stomach muscles all together and is relatively painless.
Also, if you can turn on your side, use the hand and arm that’s on top to push
your upper body and head off the pillow by placing hand flat on the bed near the
shoulder and push.
This helped me a great deal for RNY and Tummy Tuck.

Ohhh please keep telling me all the good things that will happen after
surgery. My surgery is in 1 week! I love reading all the positive wonderful
things. Especially now. Thanks. Tema
Hi sylvie I was just wondering how does one cope with the waiting
game until surgery date. I too am going for the lap band with dr.
Jette. I will be meeting with him november21 2002.I am very excited
to meet with him but i am also very nervous.I really hope i am
accepted and that i am a good candidate. If you have any insight i
would love to here from you.
Altho I am still PRE-OP; I thought I’d put
in my 2 Cents worth.
As for me:
I already know I will be in ICU, even with
no complications in surgery.
I have severe sleep apnea; I also throw
pvc’s big time. (Thanks to the YEARS of
UNdiagnosed apnea, by the way..) I will
have to have an “awake intubation” (which I
won’t remember, thank God) and will wake up
on a respirator in ICU.
This is because we ALREADY KNOW…( after
a thyroidectomy last Feb.) that I WILL NOT
breathe on my own in the regular recovery
room. (now THAT was scairy ; I could hear

Yesterday I went to Dallas and had my cardiac workup and Thalium stress test
;it was just my luck the test showed a heart abnormality which means there will
be no surgery for me. I am posting this instead of writing to all the good
people who have encouraged me to keep trying but, I think it is time to take off
my gloves now and accept how things are going to be . I am very tired;it took
the techs at the clinic 5 times to start an IV and I am just wanting to be quiet
for awhiile.
Can someone please explain the
difference/symptoms of dumping ? I know they
are different events; but I was under the
impression that they went “hand in hand”.
Tammy,
You could almost count yourself as “weird” if you didn’t go through this
stage. All of us (almost anyways) worried about the same things at this
point. You are still probably eating very soft food, which passes through
the pouch so easily and quickly. I hardly ever got the sensation of being
full at that time. Don’t worry. Its almost impossible to have stretched
your pouch at this time. I kind of think of this phase as much like having
a new baby in the house. As soon as you think you’ve got him/her on a
schedule, well throw that out, because everything changes. You will go
through many different phases as your food variety increases. You very
likely will go through a time when some of what you try doesn’t stay down.
Its really no big deal. Just avoid that food for a while, and come back to
try it again later. You are smart to not weigh frequently. Please try to
remember that it honestly isn’t the numbers on the scale that matter. Enjoy
each and every change your body makes and the life you will come to relish.

Seems that when the List Rules, Insurance Issue and Acronyms posts are
automatically generated, EVERYTHING from the smiley faces in the Acronyms post
until the end of the Digest ends up having lines through it, rendering the rest
of the Digest unreadable.
Would anyone want a repost of Digest 4085 or some previous ones? (I’ve got them
in a folder back to June 1st.)
Write me and let me know please.

Hi All,
I don’t post often, but I wanted to chime in with what has been
working for me… besides vitamins, protein, etc. My rules, I guess
you could say…
1. I don’t know if I dump, and don’t want to know. In my mind,
dumping is TERRIBLE. It’s something that I don’t ever want to
experience. I read where people push it to see how much sugar they
can tolerate, and I think WHY? So you know how much you can cheat? If
I cheat, I will suffer, whether it’s from dumping or no/slow weight
loss. And that helps to keep me away from sugar, because I know if I
go back, it will ruin everything. I may have a taste once in awhile,
but never more than one taste. And believe me, I’m not a master of
self-control. I let my utter fear of dumping help.
2. I carry water with me everywhere. Every so often, I drink about
four swallows, just enough to fill my pouch. I think this has helped
