Lap R.N.Y after a C- Section.

Has anyone had a Lap rny even after having a c- section? I will only
concider an rny if it can be done laparoscopically.I have a job that
requires heavy lifting and a hernea would be almost certain. Thanks
for any info you might have.Tracey.

    Dear Tracey,
    I had a Lap BPD/DS almost 19 months ago after having 2 c-sections in
1991 and 1993. I had a moderate amount of adhesions but my surgeon
was able to complete my surgery in under 3 hours using a full lap
procedure. Since the DS is a much more difficult procedure to perform
Lap, an RNY after a C-Section shouldn’t be a problem for an
experienced Lap surgeon. You need to consider your surgeon’s skill
and experience along with their conversion to open % rate. If your
surgery cannot be completed lap, you have to be prepared that the
surgeon will finish it open. BTW, you can also get a hernia with Lap
surgery, but the chances are lower. Good luck with your research.
