Exercise timing questions

I’m trying to figure out the timing of my exercise sessions in
relation to meals. Up to now I’ve been doing evening exercise, 1-3
hours after dinner, but am starting to experiment with splitting it
up between morning and evening. Is it best to eat breakfast before
or after working out? Since you’re not supposed to drink for an hour
after eating, that makes it tough to exercise right after breakfast,
since I need to drink while I do bike or treadmill. Which timing
would be better for the metabolism? I don’t have trouble sleeping
after evening exercise, so that’s not an issue. And would I burn
fewer calories or get less conditioning if I do two 30-minute
sessions rather than one 50-minute session?

P.S. I’m 5 months out from surgery and my weight just went below 200
for the first time in at least 16 yars. Woo-hoo!
