Drinking liquor for the holidays
Hello group,
i had my sugury on november 8th 2002 which is almost 4 weeks ago on
friday and what i was wondering is my job is having a christmas party
on saturday December 7th and i was wondering is it to soon to just
have one small drink and if so how long do you have to wait til you
can, i was hoping around christmas time and by then i would be post-op
7 weeks and if christmas is to soon how about new years eve. I dont
want to hurt my self so i need some help,

If you have never drank I would not experiment at a work party…
Two things:
1. If it is a sugar based mixed drink you could dump easily…not good at a
party.
2. You don’t know how it will effect you and how much you have to drink to be
drunk. Not something you want to surprise you that you get ‘tipsy’ after one
drink and make a fool of yourself at the party….
Just my opinion….if you’re that concerned try a drink before you go just to
see if you can handle it. I would not drink for at least a year out though. My
surgeons number one rule.

Speaking of alchol, tonight is the first night since before Nov 20 2001 that
i had my first glass of wine. I drank about oh, maybe a wine glass and just
like that i got pain about right below my sternm and then into my back. I
rolled around on the bed for about 5 minutes and it quit just like that.
I’ve had my gallbladder out but it felt like an attack but don’t think
that’s possible anymore.

Hi Judy I am about 14 weeks out and I have drank a few times. I even had a
bourbon and coke reg coke too :). I have had a few shots as well as some wine. I
did fine I usually don’t dump with sugar so that is how I handled the reg coke.
As for wine It was real strong just a few drinks gave me a buzz. You should have
a drink before this party just to test the waters. If you had the RNY like me I
have noticed that I can get a buzz pretty quick it lasts for about 30 min then I
am sober so PLEASE make sure if you do drink you aren’t driving and be careful.
Oh yeah I even had a Tequila shot boy did that burn the pouch(never again)..
Just remember to take it slow and try it at home to know how your body will
react to the alcohol ok Hugs KathyS
