Laura’s post regarding being sick

I would like to encourage Laura to please talk to her doctor about
this, and stop comparing yourself to other people. One of the
problems with this list is that there is such diversity among us
(which is not a bad thing), and most of our experiences are unique to
us. We don’t know all the specifics regarding the actual procedure
that was performed on you. Even if we did have the exact same
procedure, with the same doctor, our experience can certainly be
different because our bodies are not stamped from machines, they are
each unique creations. I have been through this surgery along with 2
revisions (this is another story), but each time my experience was
very different from the other times.
The last time I had it, I could tolerate ****NO**** bread of ANY
kind. I could tolerate no crackers and no meat. For over a year I
could not get much of anything down except some unsweetened liquids.
I dearly loved pasta. Could not tolerate it. When I found a food

that I COULD tolerate, I would eat it until I was so sick of it I
couldn’t stand the site of it anymore and it would make me sick just
to think of eating it. I am now able to consume many foods including
bread, pasta, meat, etc. I STILL will occassionally get sick and
when that happens, I just deal with it. I think I have puked in
every restaurant, gas station and department store in my area. I
have had to puke in front of people, behind people and beside
people. This can all mess with your head. We have to simply take it
all one day at the time and when that is too much, we just have to
take it one hour, or even one minute at the time. One of the most
important things that we have to learn to do is to STOP comparing
ourselves to other people. We had enough of that as a morbidly obese
person.
Talk to your doctor please, and use the information you gain from all
us well wishers with a grain of salt. Use what applies to you and
discard the rest. You will probably make yourself feel much better
if you just get the peace of mind of knowing that what you are going
through is normal. If it is not normal, then let your physician
direct you from there. The only thing we have to offer you is our
own experience.
Please take care and God Bless you.
Bill
