Neurontin and Flexiril POST OP??

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

Is there anyone that takes Neurontin post-op? I’m worried about
having to swallow this huge pill. I can barely get them down now with
a ton of water. Flexiril, I’m wondering if the effect is stronger
post-op, or do you need more to get the same relief? Thanks in
advance for your replies.
Take care,
Diana

Doctor Review

Wednesday, April 20th, 2005

Anyone one know how to review a surgen before surgery? Yea I can take
there word for it or ask their staff, but is there a way of finding
out how many and of what procedures the doc does from an external
source. Or any leagal action from the past? I’m in Pennsylvania and
wondering what would be some good questions to ask?
Thank-you in advance

Can I get an Angel?

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

Hi. I posted the other day and failed to mention where I was to
have surgery. I am hoping that there will be somebody nearby that
would be willing to be my Angel. I am scheduled to have surgery on
January 2, 2003. In Green Bay, Wisconsin, with Dr. Cynthia
Geocaris. Can anyone help? Thanks for all the support I’ve gotten
from this group. You all are my Angels!!

5 years ago today …

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

Today is my 5 year surgery anniversary and I just wanted to say that
I am very glad that I’ve taken this journey.
The journey didn’t stop when I reached my lowest weight - in fact, I
think I’ve learned the most about myself with regard to emotional
issues over the last year. Learning to treat my body with kindness
and love has been a new lesson I’ve only just learned and to my way
of thinking, that’s a huge step in healing some of the wounds that I
carried with me.
The past five years have definitely had their ups and downs, that’s
for sure, but like they all say “I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
Traveling down the road with you all …

Lancaster, PA area - WLS friendly PCPs

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

I might have to change PCP if he does not support my plan for WLS. I
have not approached him yet, but when I asked for help with weight
loss, he gave me great advice: “Eat fewer calories than you burn”.
Thank you very much. Do you know of any in this area that are
knowledgeable and support WLS?

Post op - thoughts

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

I think everything you are feeling is completely normal. I am just 25 days
out of RNY and I went through everything you are . I researched and read
every available thing I could get my hands on. I found myself high with
excitement and trembling with fear depending on what I read. I am 57 years
old with diabetes, heart arrhythmia’s, and a history of blood clots. I
finally found the place inside of me that wanted out of this morbidly obese
body more than anything in the world and I let go and left it in the hands of
my wonderful surgeon and God. Everyone thought I wouldn’t do well. The
surgeon took extra precautions with me, but I surprised them all and did very
well. There are some rough times, it is not a walk in the park, but I am so
thankful that I did it and I would do it again if I had to. My doctor has an
enormous practice and I have met several people in their 60s who did very
well. Look inside yourself and weigh what life is like for you now and what
it can be after surgery. Find a good surgeon and give him your trust. I
wish you the best. Tema

Digest Number 4141

Kathy
Welcome
I had my surgery on August 5, 2002, and as of today am down 94 lbs. I am not
sure why, but I have really lost at a great rate. I started at 339.6 so
that may be part of it. I cannot believe how wonderful I feel, I have not
stopped loosing, and still have 100 lbs to go. Keep us posted on your
progress and best of luck to you. I live in Arizona, where are you?

Last minute concerns

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Help! I could sure use a few words of encouragement at this
point. I have waited 7 months for an appointment with a surgeon, and
this Friday will be the day. Every day I have spent an hour or two at
least reading the posts or doing research in the hope that I would be
prepared.
Perhaps I have over researched because I no longer seem to have
an opinion of my own. After an enthusiastic email, I can hardly wait
for the surgery. After a worrisome one, I question just how much I
need this surgery (any rational person could figure out the answer: a
lot!). Lately I have been reading the Duodenal Switch sites, and now
I wonder if I should look there, even though the long-awaited surgeon
does not do that type, and I would have to start all over again.
Meanwhile, I may not be a good candidate for any choice because I
am already 60 yrs. old. I probably do not have another seven months
or so to read and study because I doubt that many surgeons would want
