Hello tlblosser@…,
In reference to your comment:
è As for the gas pains that some have talked about and
è knowing that they had a LAP RNY, wouldn’t that be
è indicative that the gas pains could be partly attributed
è to the gas that they insert into the abdominal cavity so
è that they can work on you? As for the Country Buffet,
è why would one want to subject themselves to the “hog
è trough” after having the type of surgery that we have
è had? The very reason we had this surgery was to be
è able to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. I’m not
è advocating the fact that we stay away from restaurants,
è but a “buffet” place? It just seems to stand the reason
è why we need to avoid places such as those, because,
è for the most part, people go to buffet lines to get

Hello everyone,
I don’t post often with this forum but I read all the time. But now I need
some help and advise. I am still pre-op but will soon be setting my surgery
date with Dr. Vaughan in Jupiter, FL. I will hopefully be having Lap RNY.
I am a teacher and would like to schedule my surgery for the first of March
because I will have a week for spring break during that time. I have
approximately 10 days sick leave from work also. I was just wondering, from
those of you that have had the lap procedure, how long was it before you
could return to work? Is it possible to return after 2 or 3 weeks? I do
not have a strenuous job and it is not stressful so that would not be an
issue. I have a wonderful principal who is very supportive….I just don’t
want to take advantage of the situation and stay gone from school too long.
I have heard many different stories about energy levels and sleeping a lot.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much for all of your support out
there and helping people with their questions.

I would like to get some feedback on how much you can usually eat
about 6 weeks after surgery. How much does your doctor tell you that
you can eat? How much is “pushing it”?
Thanks…Ellie In Oregon
I was just wandering if anyone has ever heard of this. My best friend
in california just had wls on 12/16 and is allowed to eat regular
food. Her doc’s nurse even told her she could have champagne on new
years eve. I am just alittle worried about her. maybe I am being to
protective.
Hello Group, this is my first time posting a message but I have been having a
lot of muscle pain on my left side. Has any one else had this problem. And how
do you find relief. the pain medication doesn’t help. Pre -op I wieghed 335#
and now I am down to 285#. I had the open ryn done on 12-05-02. Other than
that I feel great.

Hi all. Well, it’s finally here and I’m terrified! I have to be at
the hospital at 7 am Thursday morning. My husband and my mom will
be there with me. My kids return to school that day so I have
someone to care for them before and after school. My 7 year-old is
very upset about my having surgery so my dh will bring the kids to
the hospital Friday after school so they can see that “mom’s ok”.
I also want to thank you all for your posts. I have gotten so much
help from reading them and getting answers to my posts. I consider
you all to be wonderful friends and I look forward to support post-
op. Now I ask for your thoughts and prayers for my surgery Thursday
morning. My husband will post and let you all know how it went.
Thanks again and God Bless you all!
Shelley

Hi Group,
I’m just beginning my journey into WLS land. I did receive a nice
Christmas/birthday gift as TriCare has agreed to let me find an “outside”
civilian doctor to do my Gastric Bypass as Walter Reed Army Hospital has a
two-year waiting list. Now it’s a matter of finding a doctor in the
D.C./Northern Virginia/Baltimore area who accepts TriCare. (I located one
in Richmond, VA but that turned out to be out of my TriCare region). Most of
the offices are closed until the 2nd due to the holidays so I’m having to be
very patient! (not one of my strong points!)
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to all of you as reading your inputs each
day has taught me a great deal and knowing such great support is there is
such a comforting and uplifting feeling! Happy New Year!

I was just wondering: what’s been the worst thing for any of you in
the whole process. I’d like opinions please. It woudl be
