suing

Saturday, May 28th, 2005

You know, … the nice thing about living in America is the ability to have
your own opinion and to exercise your own rights. Whether or not she should
sue is not our business… the fact is she can sue… and she might have a
pretty good case. I think you all should get off her back and respect her
opinion and her wishes. It’s just like when some of you were considering
having the surgery and you were inundated with friends and relatives who
told you all the reasons why it was the WRONG thing to do….
As to whether or not they HAVE to honor the card is one issue and one
only… the other side of that argument is that once they choose to give
anyone a discount (children or seniors or whomever) then they have shown a
preference to a group of people. To then refuse to extend the same benefits
to another group is prejudice. Whether or not it is a prejudice allowed by
law is something for a court to decide.

Skin changes

Friday, May 27th, 2005

Hi Group! Have a fanatasic new year and New You! I am responding to the
dry skin question. It is so strange to me. Also, I have zits galore. I am
used to near flawless skin. Must be taht estrogen running amuck from
melting fat cells storage. I have lost 62 pounds since September 16. I
think it should be more, but I know I need to move and groove more.
Sometime I get worried about my eating. There are times when solida just
can’t be done. But usually only lasts for one day or 2. Denise I added
you in ICQ, thanks for the offer to connect there.

dry skin and welting

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

I’m 4.5months post op from LAP RNY and have lost 70lbs to date and feel great
except for my skin. I’m drinking my fluids, taking Vitamin E and my other
vitamins and calcium, yet the skin on my face is extremely dry. I noticed the
other day, it has become sensitive to foundation make-up (which I only wear
maybe once a month) and Total Effects by Oil of Olay.
I woke up the following morning to find redness and welting on both sides of my
facial cheeks.
I keep hydrating my skin with good creams for extra dry skin and it still feels
dry.
Anyone else out there with the same problem, if so, any suggestions?

Wow, got to buy some neat new undies!!!

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

My open RNY was April 29 of this year. Last Christmas I was almost 400 pounds,
and today on my scale at home I am 230.
I eat what I want, but in MUCH smaller amounts, and I eat protein first. I drink
loads of water and decaf tea with Splenda, and I drink Sobe Lean grapefruit and
cranberry juice and Diet Snapple cran-raspberry juice. I was never much on milk,
and I find that it makes my dump anyway, so if I need milk for something, I use
soy milk (8th Continent). I haven’t had trouble with anything at all and I am
VERY mobile these days…
I am still changing body-image wise. I am still losing weight, but not at the
speed that I was. I am still losing inches also. I can wear regular jeans from
Walmart and today I went to an undies sale at Lane Bryant and bought a bunch of
bikini and bra sets that I LOVE!! (Have never had undies like this before in my
life!). I had all my nieces and nephews with me and had them pointing out other
women that I am the same size as so I can see what I really look like instead of
what I see in my head still.

“I am in the process of putting together a lawsuit”
Seems to me that an establishment has a right to make their own policies
about discounts as long as it doesn’t discriminate due to race, religion or
creed. Many have a reduced price menu for kids and seniors. If you are not
a kid or a senior, you shouldn’t expect a discounted menu. I know some may
honor your request, but it’s hardly mandatory. If you don’t like how they
treat you, vote with your feet……walk out and don’t patronize them.
Everyone is lawsuit happy these days. Next thing you know, someone is going
to sue McDonald’s for their coffee being too hot. :-) Ritch

Family acceptance

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

Hello,
I am sure all of you from time to time have had to struggle with telling your
family. My mom has yet to say if she has approved etc. I called my aunts
today and they are all worried and wish that I did not go through with this.
I want this surgery, but I feel as if I should reconsider. As I am typing all
i can think about is how wonderful it will be for me to loose all this extra
weight (well most of it). I have done every diet from weight watchers to
seeing a dietician. I have not tried Jenny craig because I just can’t afford
it. They keep telling me to think of my daughter because there is no proof
that this surgery is the right thing because it is still in it’s learning
stage. I dont know what to do I am just so sad.
Just this morning I was so gun hoed in having this surgery now my family has
me second guessing my decision.

Country Buffet Restaurant

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

Hello~
I am 2 years 2 months post op and I am looking for anyone else on this list,
who carries a medical card on them issued by their doctor that entitles them
to be charged a reduced rate or child’s rate when eating in a restaurant.
What I am looking for is ANYONE on this list who has been denied by Country
Buffet Restaurant in particular - where they would NOT honor your medical
card.
Not all doctors give these cards to their patients after surgery but I would
like anyone who has been told they cannot be charged a reduced rate from
Country Buffet to please contact me directly off of this list ~ as to not tie
up the list with this.
I am in the process of putting together a lawsuit against them and just
wanted to know if there are any other people besides myself and some other
people in my area, who have been treated poorly by this establishment! I am
now 150 lbs less than I was 2 years ago and believe me you the half of me
