Almost 6 months out- now what??

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

Well Im almost 6 months out and my body is getting stubborn. Ive hit
a platue and its been sitting at the same weight for 3 weeks. Ive
been spoiled to losing so well I guess. Ive lost 120 pounds in these
not quite 6 months and was hoping to lose at least 10 pounds a month
for at least 3 or four more months since im still at 225 pounds. I
get plenty of excersice becouse I work two full time jobs, the non-
sit down type, and walk at least 4 hours a day on one of my jobs. Im
not going to try to excersice any more, I only get 6 hours sleep as
it is now, lol. My eating is like a small finicky childs. Sometimes I
eat “alot” which might be two cups a day, but mostly a few bites a
meal and Im ready to quit eating. I can eat anything I want usually,
if I eat it slowly. Ive even tried candy and syrup a couple times and
didnt get sick. I wish I had of, but then it didnt send me out of
control either. I havent had anymore since then, I never was a candy
kind of person and gave up sugar years ago, I dont buy it ever. My

Preparing for WLS

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

I am scheduled for open RNY on Jan 27. I am very excited, but would
like some help, suggestions, with telling/not telling my children
about it. I have 3 and 6 year old daughters and would be interested
in hearing how others explained this. I will be in the hospital for
5 days, which is longer than I have ever been away from them. Did
others have their children visit or not? What were the reasons?
I appreciate any responses.

my situation

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

I gained about 125 lbs in the seven years after I gave up smoking. My health
went down hill too. I had blood clots in my legs, cellulitis several times,
my diabetes was terribly out of control, I could hardly walk without terrible
pain and shortness of breath, had dangerous heart palpitations and much
more. I had open rny 8 weeks ago and I am doing very well and I am so happy
that I had the surgery and that it was successful. I have lost close to 40
lbs and I am seeing slow but steady improvements in my health. I wish you all
the best on your journey to better health. I dont think you will be sorry at
all. Tema

Uric acid

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

Has anyone had high uric acid levels post op? If so did your feet
hurt more than they use to? How did you lower the level. It is a
side effect from eating alot of protein.

My Update…

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

Good Morning-
Well, I’m now 20 days post op from my Open RNY on
12.09.02. For those of you that don’t know, I had my
surgery up in OKC, OK to be with my family, but I live
and work in Dallas, TX.
I don’t’ know how much weight I’ve lost, but before
leaving the hospital, I had already lost 12 lbs.
I am still on pureed foods for another week and if ANY
of you have any ideas about what I can eat that would
be good tasting, please let me know!
I will be heading back to Dallas the morning of Jan.
1, 2003 and hopefully going to back to work on Monday,
Jan. 6th.
Here’s wishing each of you a Prosperous and Insurance
Approving 2003!!!

What do post ops REALLY eat?

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

I am waiting for my insurance approval. I want to know what people
are really able to eat after the surgery. I’m looking 8 months and
out. This is a large concern for me. I realize there are
differences in people but I wanted to get some idea of what a variety
of you are eating. What is normal for you?!
Thanks!

NEW- Having Surgery on Mon 12/30

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

Hi! I am brand new to this group- just heard about it. I am having
surgery on Monday. I am leaving for San Diego tomorrow. Any
suggestions? Comments? Thoughts? I am currently nursing my son and
I want to try and keep doing that- has anyone nursed while doing
this? Let me know.
Thanks. Nice to meet you all!

Revisions??

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

I am almost 6 years postop of a VBG but have started to regain most
of the weight I orginally lost. I am looking for others who have had
the revision surgery and get your feedback on the surgery and
recovery. Plus, I have had vomiting problems ever since surgery on
the VBG(sometimes it is at every meal…sometimes it maybe a few
weeks in between).
Really looking for others who will provide feedback!
Thanks!
