food that taste good
I AM 8 WEEKS OUT AND I NEED SUGESTIONS FOR FOOD I CAN TOLERATE THAT TASTE
GOOD. I EAT COTTAGE CHEESE OR NO-FAT TUNA OR CHICKEN SALAD AND I AM SICK OF
THEM. TODAY ALL I HAVE EATEN IS CHEX MIX. PLEASE I NEED SUGESTIONS.

Ack. Chex mix is not necessarily a good thing — not a lot of protein which
you really need. Have you tried cheese and pepperoni? What exactly is your
diet supposed to consist of (pureeds, soft foods, or what)? If you are
allowed a wide variety, try the following things (besides the cheese and
pepperoni mentioned above):
Ham salad
No sugar added pudding and jello
Protein drinks and bars if you so desire
Fish (salmon, shrimp, clams — any actually so long as it is not fried which
might irritate your tummy)
Chicken (grill it or sautee it in chicken broth/water)
Chili (with beans and meat) — Many people eat Wendy’s chili and it is
fantastic — you can add cheese or onions to it.
If you can puree foods, throw anything you want into the blender with a
little broth and blend until smooth. Some people even try babyfoods.
The main question is what stage of eating are you at? That would help a
great deal. Don’t be afraid to try something new (something you wouldn’t
have eaten before surgery) because tastes change after surgery.

Chex Mix - if you can eat chex mix, it seems like you could eat most
anything. What’s your plan? My plan calls for me to start eating
pretty regular food at 6 weeks - chicken, deli meats (1/2 sandwiches),
cheese, scrambled eggs, fruits (1/2 cup - melon), cooked vegetables.
And light yogurt is still an option.
Good luck,
Pam
