Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

I was giving a surgery date of march 17th and i was so happy cause
much luckier could one get! I did include a clause “unless the
lephrachauns mess things up” leprachauns have a way of being nasty
little buggers, because I just found out I am pregnant, my husband
went on deployment january 17th I had a full blown period so my
husband has demon sperm. so I guess i can have my surgery next year!

questions regarding staple line disruption

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

At what point post-op are you likely to experience a staple line
disrutption? Is there a point where this is no longer a concern? If
you were to have one, how would you know? What is done to remedy the
problem?
I don’t think I have one, I am just trying to understand what that
entails.
Thanks guys.

Been Approved and Have a Date!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Hi Everyone!
I have been in this group for a little over a year now and after
reading every single message last year (seriously, every single one)
and researching in other places, I decided to have the surgery. I
had an HMO but switched to BC/BS (state of FL plan) during open
enrollment because they are wonderful about paying for the surgery.
Sure enough, I had my initial consult with Dr. James Balliro in
Tallahassee on Jan. 11 and all of my paperwork was sent to BCBS on
Jan. 28. The insurance company called me yesterday to say I had been
APPROVED!!!! The Dr.’s office had a cancellation for next Wed., Feb.
19th.!!!!!!!! I’m so excited and kinda nervous too.
I don’t post often but wanted to say thanks to all of you who share
your lives and experiences and also thanks to the moderators who
dedicate so much time to this site. I can’t begin to tell you how
much you all have helped me in my decision making.

Does anyone know if BTC does Distal or Proximal?

Monday, August 29th, 2005

Hello all,
I’m 2.5 weeks post-op. I went to BTC in Belvidere,IL
for my open procedure. I know that my stomach is
30CCs (1 oz) but I can’t find in my notes if BTC’s
procedure is to do the Distal or Proximal on its patients.
Does anyone know what the standard procedure for BTC
is (proximal or distal)?
Thanks,
Sheila

Screwing up…I don’t know why?

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Hi everyone.
I am 3.5 months post op and down 82 pounds. My weight loss has slowed down
ALOT. Could it be because I have started craving regular Coke and drinking it?
:):) I have one more can and then its a no-no from now on…hopefully. I am so
disappointed in myself. Before surgery I drank Diet Coke…no problem wanting
the sugary kind. ??? I seem to crave sugar foods…I can’t eat fried
food..anything fatty…no butter, bread, etc. it makes me sick…sugar does not
however. I can’t eat much but I know that sugary stuff will make me gain the
weight back. Whats wrong with me that I’ll do this? I thought I had my mind
made up to do right…and I catch myself doing the wrong thing. Before surgery
I never craved sugar really…wasn’t a candy eater….this must be
psychological?? Any words of advise would be helpful. I have been depressed
all night and squalling of course. :) I want to be a success but am my own
worst enemy. Has anybody else had to deal with this? I feel like an idiot and
I’m totally alone….whine whine whine. :) (more…)

First meal of the day

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Does anyone else find the first meal of the day repulsive? I’m about 2 1/2
mos. out, and find that the first is always the worst. Nothing sounds
appealing, and I seem to have to force it down. On top of that, it seems
that my stomach hates the first meal, too. I don’t vomit or get sick, it
just acts kinda cranky.
I saw a Campbells soup commercial last night and almost had to head
for the bathroom. I used to be a fan of cream soups, and now, they are
disgusting to me. I’d never been as affected by a commercial before.
Strange….
Take care,
Jess
