Support group for Texas - Long
This may be off topic for a group, I apologize, I am
trying to reach as many people as possible.
My name is Ellen Yates and I live in Carrollton north
of Dallas. I am forming a support group for fellow
DS’ers and want to be DS’ers. We will hold our first
formation meeting on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at
11:00 am. We will meet at the:

2427 Carrick Street
Farmers Branch, TX 75234

It is off of Valley View Lane and I35.
I think there are enough people in this area that have
had the DS or are interested in it to have a good

I thought we could work on a schedule for the
meetings with input from a group. We may chose to meet
monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly. I think Barbara from
Dr. Rabkin’s office may come to one soon.
Perhaps we could have pot-luck snacks, I really think
it could be both fun and beneficial. Please let me
know what you think.
Some of my ideas regarding this are:
1. Contact surgeons and ask for topics to discuss &
support for the group since we all had to go out of
state and have different surgeons. I would love it if
they would send a representative to speak to us.
2. Get individuals to speak about their experiences
3. Discuss concerns and problems.
4. Encourage each other and provide support for the
families.
5. Any other ideas would be welcome
