weight loss - protein drinks

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hi,
I’m 7 weeks post op and the scale isn’t moving. In fact it’s gone
up 2 pounds in the past 3 days. I eat 3 meals a day - keeping a
balance between protein & carbs. I also drink one protein
supplement (about 20gm). Am I in a hibernation period or what?
My total loss is 33 pounds but I’m frustrated. My excercise is
limited due to arthritis. I drink at least 48 oz. of liquids per day. I
posted my frustrations a few weeks ago after a doctors visit and
only losing 2 pounds in 2 weeks. I waited so long for this
surgery and I think I’m doing all the right things but not seeing
continuing results. Is something wrong? Isn’t the surgery
working properly? I’m confused.

Support Group in Fort Worth/Dallas area

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hello to all:
I am 35 years old and I live in Fort Worth Texas. I had the bypass
surgery July 1 2002. I was at 275 pre-op (note that I was 300 1 year
prior and I had lost 25 lbs. going to Jenny Craig…but I was not
improving health wise), and now I am at 191. I have gone from a size
30/32 and now wear a 12/14. The mere opportunity to have this surgery
was a gift from the Lord. My life is a story of weight loss battles
and food addiction. My weight problems began at birth as I weighed in
at 11 lbs. 1 oz. (my poor mom). I know that the Lord has blessed me
with an opportunity to have a new life. Additionally He does not
bless someone just for them alone, it is always meant for blessing
someone else. I want to start up a support group for weight loss
surgery patients, and people who would like to consider having the
surgery. I had my surgery in Rowlett, TX which is 2 hrs. away, so I
cannot feasibly attend a group so far away. But I thought, why not

Less than 19 hours to go now!

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hi all,
Well I have less than 19 hours before I am to have my LapRNY. So
many emotions going thru my head right now. I am looking forward to
finally eating to live instead of living to eat. I am also going thru
the “normal” what if’s right now. Worried that I will fail at this
since I am a binge eater, as I have all of the previous attempts to
lose weight. I shared my surgery with a few individuals at work and
of course there always has to be the one skeptic, who promised to
save all of my fat clothes for me. And I am glad that she volunteered
for the job, because I’m sure she will be able to use them one day.
As I don’t plan on failing this time. Please keep me in your prayers,
and I will write when I return next weekend.

Anyone here use the Vitaballs

Friday, September 30th, 2005

I heard about them in my support meeting and was wondering if any
body here uses them? I looked at them at Walmart today but noticed
that they also have sugar in them.

Hi all - Good News

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hi group
I am so excited- yesterday - I went to see my nutritionist and other
than my vitamin B12 level being really low - I am doing fine - I have
also hit the 100 lb mark - actually 102 lbs - in 7 months - I almost
cried - it felt like it was taking me so long to get to this
point!!!! But 7 months is really not long - I am also out of womans
size clothes!!!! I still have about 47 more lbs to go - but at least
I am 2/3 there -
I have to up my B12 to twice a week - and if it doesnt get better I
may have to add more - I was wondering why I was so exhausted -
although stress has been my first name lately - between work, the
kids and my ex -
Anyway - needed to share my exciting news with people I knew could
relate.
Wishing you all well.

You All Are Great!!

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Hello Everyone!
Thanks again for coming through big time! I will reread your emails
over and over again. I think for most pre-ops like myself, it is
very difficult to imagine being successful post-op because we don’t
have the “tool” to help us yet. I especially appreciated those who
said they don’t recommend pre-ops trying to do a post-op diet/methods
(chewing slowly, significantly reducing calorie intake comparable to
post-op, etc.,)because when we try to do that and fail, it says we
will fail after surgery also. I am really starting to understand how
WLS is a tool. It enables us to do what we were unable to do before
surgery. Thanks again to everyone who responded to CALLING ALL
SUPPORT!!!!

is it ok to add milk to protein shakes?

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

by show of hands, how many hereuse water and how many use milk? On
this same, level I also ten to add 1-2 table spoon of sugar…
otherwise this stuff tastes horrible. I am doing something wrong.
Are there other people who can tolerate sugar and if so, how much?
