Eating when not hungry–what if you’re always hungry?

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Chris,
I don’t want to be one of those folks who points fingers and tells
people when they are eating too much or not enough or that some choice they
made was poor. I just have a couple of questions: 1. Art thou drinking with
thy meals? Or too soon before/after? Please allow the food you put into
your pouch enough time to sit there. 2. Are you eating the protein first and
foremost and then moving on to veggies? You might want to stick to just
protein right now, as that will give you “more bang for your buck,” and help
you to stay fuller, longer.
And finally, to pose a bit of a rhetorical question for ya… are
you sure it isn’t head hunger? Are you *really* sure it isn’t? We all go
through periods where our head is telling us something completely different
from what we truly need. I don’t think I’ve really experienced true hunger
since my surgery. When you start to get your hunger feelings, try a no-ca
l/low-cal liquid- water, sugar free kool-aid, crystal light, sugar-free tang,

Arthritis Meds

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Does anyone take prescription meds for their arthritis. Vioxx or
Celebrix? I know these drugs can be pretty damaging to the
stomach but what else is available for those of us with arthritis?

Hunger & eating

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

I’m 6 weeks out and am still having difficulty understanding the
feeling of being full. I get hunger grumblings in my stomach
occasionally but once I’m at the table and the food is in front of
me I have trouble recognizing the feeling of fullness. I eat slowly
(30 minutes a meal), chew slowly and take a small portion of
each food - no seconds. A few times I’ve found myself
uncomfortable about an hour after eating and than I knew that I
had eaten too much - but that was after the fact.
Any suggestions or insights? 80% of the time I could care less
whether or not I eat but I follow my doctor’s 3 meal per day plan -
no snacks.

Need help.– ANOTHER UPDATE

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Okay another update on me! Talked to the surgeon — DR. Choban called me
tonight. She says to wait but it sounds like a cyst burst and my body is
reabsorbing it. She said to take pepcid for the next bit and that may help
and if the pain doens’t go away then let her know.

Could be a gall bladder problem?

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Denise..Do you still haveyour gallbladder??? I had mine removed 10 years ago
and yes horrible, horrible pain radiating into the side and naseau etc. I’m
no doctor but it is worth pursuing if you still have it. I’m sure you aware
of the high probability of WLS patients having gallbladder problems from the
significant, rapid weight loss

Re; Eating when not hungry–what if you’re always hungry?

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

I just had surgery on 2/12/03 so that makes me about two weeks out.
I am always hungry. I have followed my doctor’s diet and also his
advice to progress further if I was hungry. So here I am already
eating chicken and vegtables, as well as cottage cheese and yogurt
and eggs & stuff. But one hour after I eat, I’m hungry again. Not
for anything big, but a 4 oz. yogurt hits the spot.
I wonder about this. Is this normal? My friend who had WLS 8
months ago didn’t eat like this nor was she hungry. She only just
got her appetite back.
My portion sizes are reasonable. I don’t want to overeat and puke.
I was thinking of increasing the protein portion, maybe that would
keep me satisfied longer?
Has anyone experienced hunger this early on?
Chris

Help Please?

I don’t tend to post often but do read all the time. My doctor wants to put
me on Wellbutrin for depression. Has anyone any experience or knowledge of
this drug they can share with me? Thanks in advance.
