Dietician in PA/NJ area

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Sorry, one more question. I am in PA. (Close to NJ too) I need to see a
dietician (along with my PCP) for six months PreOP. (Last ditch effort to get
this covered) Can anyone suggest someone?

Self Pay price

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Hi all. I am in PA and planning surgery in PA/NJ/NY area. I am having a Lap RNY
and it looks like I may have to pay for it myself. Anyone know how much it’s
going to cost me or if there are any Dr.’s in the area that have “package
prices”? I am not looking for a “deal” but I need this surgery one way or
another.
Thanks

Extra Skin in Stomach Area

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Hello Everyone,
For people that have had the surgery, is there anyone that used excerises to
firm your stomach out instead of the tummy tuck? My goal is to firm my belly
with excersise is that a unrealistic goal?

Proteun Bars

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

It’s been 24 months this month. Started at 447 pounds, today 215
pounds.
I’ve been looking for the best tasting protein bars out in the market
place. With no luck I been going with out the proper protein amounts.
I just found a bar with 13 to 14 grams of protein. The important
issue here is the taste. I love the tast.
The bars are Kashi GO LEAN. found them in most stores. I eat 3 to 4
daily. They really taste great. I’m not able to eat meat, breads,
noodles, salads etc.
Finding these Kashi bars have been a life saver. I also bought ceral
which I’m able to eat.
I hope this helps someone who’s been having the same problems.

Brenda in Wichita

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Brenda, I’ll bet a city the size of Wichita does have a WLS support
group, the trick is finding it. To find one near me I pulled up the
websites of each of the major hospitals near me and sent an email
asking about a support group. I got answers back from everyone and
located three different groups! Good luck finding one near you.

Tummy dancing.. reply to Denise

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

We have something in common Denise! My tummy does the exact same thing.
It has been doing this for several months now and I am 16 months out now.
I have not idea why nor do I know what foods causes it. I just know that
is feels like something is in there moving around. I can actually hear
mine sometimes. What about you?

Tummy dancing..

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Okay something really wierd has been happening lately with my tummy. A while
after i eat — regardless of what it is, if I lay down, my tummy starts
dancing. Literally. It is a pulsating, heartbeaty type thing (NO I AM NOT
PREGNANT). If I put my hand on my tummy, i can feel it beating. And it lasts for
about 45 minutes. Anyone else have this happen to them? It is just really really
wierd!

Lap band v/s RNY question

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Hi everyone. I’m in the research phase. I haven’t spoken to doctors or any of
that. Just researching what surgery would be best. It looks like the band
surgery seems less severe and has less complications and side effects. Basically
I was wondering if any of you chose between these and what made you chose one
over the other. I’d be happy to hear from both sides, Lap and RNY. Thanks!

unable to sleep

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Hi all. I am 4 weeks post open RNY and am still having trouble
sleeping. I start in bed at night but usually awake within 1-2 hours
and then move from the couch to recliner etc, but get very little
sleep. I am not in pain, nor feel like I am having low blood sugars.
I usually am thirsty. I do get between 48 and 60 oz. of H2O in daily,
so do not feel it is dehydration. Any one else had this problem?
Also, finding that nothing tastes or sounds good right now. I am
lucky and tolerate everything I try, but the only thing that even
tastes half way good is flavored decaf tea. The protein drinks are
about gagging me, I force myself to take to take in my vitamins. Any
suggestions? Thanks All, you have been so helpful. I love reading all
the posts. Sharon
