Blood in stool & colonoscopy
Hi all, my name is Caryl and I had the BPD/DS last April 1st. Lost
123lbs so far, and feel great. I’m scheduled for bilateral total knee
replacements this April 1st (like in 2 1/2 weeks). I just had the pre-
op physical, and blood showed in the stool. So, now they probably
want to do an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy in the same
procedure.
My question is, has anyone who’s had the DS had a colonoscopy? Can we
drink all that “prep” stuff - the same quantity as a “regular”
person? Can we go 24 hrs on just clear liquids? This is a bit scarey
for me. If it turns out that I need these tests, it will happen
quickly in order to keep the April 1 surgery date. I’m so mentally
prepared at this point for the knee surgery, I don’t want to have to
postpone it.
Any info re the colonoscopy will be greatly appreciated.
