very distal RNY…

hello everyone–
first i would like to thank everyone who took the time to respond to
my post regarding my surgeon’s ever increasing “administration fee.”
your posts led me to choose another doctor-one who is 2 hours away-
but he has a much better track record and far more experience–and
even better–is the fact that when i told my story to his office
manager, she worked me in for an appt TODAY!
i met with him and liked him very much. i should be able to have
surgery in the next month–esp since i am so far in the approval
process with my insurance co already!! and–just to make things
better–i lost 8lbs since my last appt with a doctor!!! i know weigh
401…
here is my only concern—he bypasses far more of the small intestine
than most surgeons i have interviewed do–he leaves 200cm of small
intestine intact–since the average person has between 400 and 600cm

of small intestines–that means that he bypasses between 200 and
400cm–the doctors i have talked to before only bypass up to 150cm.
i am just concerned about the long term affects of bypassing so much.
so-if anyone out there has info-or “real life” stories, i would
appreciate the input!
thanks again to everyone–you ahve all been so helpful and supportive!
love–
teresa
