Post Op Needs Help
Hi,
I had surgery on 3-25-03. I am still in so much pain. I cant get
anything but Ice down. I am mixing whey protein with Ice and
chopping it up. But between that and popsicles, and water, I dont
think I am getting enough of anything in. I have had BM’s. Runny,
but there. I am aching. My incision, my back, I feel bloated, and I
am emotionally just crying for no reason. I am so short out of the
hospital, and my family has been angels, but I am crying for no
reason whatsoever. Other than the pain and discomfort. Cant sleep for
more that 2 hours at a time. Have to switch sleeping places
throughout the nite, all nite long. Does ANY of this sound vaguely
familiar to anyone?? And is it normal for my abdomen to still feel
swollen? I need help ASAP. thanks, Jennifer

From your post I assume you had an open procedure. I had lap but I think
that everyone is different when it comes to level of pain after surgery.
Were you prescribed pain meds? Take them! Even if it means every 4 to 6
hours, however they were prescribed. It won’t hurt you to take them for a
short while. They may help to deaden the pain enough for you to get some
rest.

Hi.
I had open rny 01/27/03 and yes, I was in quite abit of pain for the first week
or so, after that it began to subside and it will for you too. Don’t worry
about eating right now, just get in your liquids. Didn’t the doc give you any
pain meds???
Cheers!
