I had a lap but my surgeon warned me that if he was having any difficulty he
would convert it to an open procedure. Supposedly a lap procedure is an
easier recovery but I've heard a lot of people who had open and did really
well. I think a lot has to do with your condition before surgery and how you
tolerate pain. I don't remember being in terrible pain but I think the
morphine pump dulled my memory! Good luck on your surgery!
